Sultan’s Game, the provocative card-based RPG from Double Cross Studio and 2P Games, just dropped a new trailer during the Shacknews E4 2025 Indie Showcase, and it’s packed with new content teases, community-driven additions, and a rare behind-the-scenes look at its dark development process.
After selling 600,000 copies in its first month, Sultan’s Game isn’t slowing down. The latest trailer reveals that 10 new pieces of equipment, each co-designed with the game’s community, are on the way, with accompanying stories shaped by both players and developers. Also teased: a brand-new character born from 18 rounds of community voting, now set to slither out of the back alleys and into the Sultan’s twisted court.
The trailer also offers a peek into the game’s origins and creative process, with commentary from the team on crafting its morally grey storylines and… let’s call them unorthodox items. It’s a fittingly grim look at a game that revels in manipulation, betrayal, and survival.
Weekly challenges remain core to the experience; players must complete tasks themed around Carnality, Extravagance, Conquer, or Bloodshed to avoid execution. The courtier’s path is anything but noble: persuasion, sacrifice, and cold strategy are the only ways to climb the Sultan’s favor.
Modders now have the green light too. With full Steam Workshop support, players can create entirely new content or twist the game’s rules into something even more deviant.

Sultan’s Game is a card-based simulation and narrative game, inspired by The One Thousand and One Nights. You are one of the ministers of the mighty Sultan, a fickle, cruel king who treats his subjects like pawns in a deadly game for his own pleasure. Forced to make dreadful choices to save your own life, you will have to find a way to survive not just the Sultan’s Game, but its consequences too.
The Sultan forces you, his minister, to participate in a cruel game: draw one of four cards, and complete its challenge within seven days – or you will be executed. The Carnality Card pushes you into the pursuit of carnal pleasures. The Extravagance Card requires lavish spending to be fulfilled. The Conquer Card forces you into perilous adventures. Finally, the Bloodshed Card demands a human sacrifice.
You must find a way to complete these harsh trials – and weather its dire consequences. Familial betrayal, lustful madness, power struggles, and the loss of your own humanity threaten your sanity; the price of survival might end up being too high…

In this turn-based resource management game, you will have to play cards to allocate allies, resources, and task objectives. Accumulate wealth, intelligence, and equipment; complete NPC quests to recruit allies, build your influence, and become a power broker in the Sultan’s court.

Various strategies for resource and story opportunity management lead to different endings. Become a trusted minister, overthrow the Sultan, find a utopia free from his control, or summon dark gods to destroy everything.
