Granzella has announced that R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos will launch in Japan on March 12, 2026, and will include a newly confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 version.
The collection will also be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, the original Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The standard edition is priced at 6,380 yen, while a Premium Box edition will be offered for 18,920 yen.
The latter includes a copy of the game, a 1/100 scale plastic kit of the Rwf-9AG Arrow-Head Granzella Revolutionary Army Specs, and an acrylic stand set. Physical editions are planned for PlayStation 5, Switch, and Switch 2, with the latter distributed as a game-key card. Pre-orders are already open through Japanese retailers, including Biccamera and Rakuten Books.
The collection remakes the two PSP strategy RPG spin-offs of the R-Type series using Unreal Engine 5.
It merges the franchise’s side-scrolling shoot ’em up identity with tactical, turn-based gameplay, allowing players to command fleets in branching campaigns. R-Type Tactics II is being released in the West for the first time, complete with a new third campaign exclusive to that title.
The package also features online competitive play, hundreds of units across both games, and storylines that let players take command of both the Space Corps and the Bydo.
In Japan, the game will ship with multiple language options, including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
NIS America will handle publishing outside Japan, though a release date for Western territories has not been confirmed. With full English support included from the start, a simultaneous or near-simultaneous worldwide launch appears likely.
