Dreamed Away, the pixel art RPG from solo developer Nicolas Petton and publisher Pineapple Works, will launch on October 23, 2025.

Set in France during the 1990s, Dreamed Away tells the story of Théo, a boy who wakes up one rainy night to find his parents and sister Louise missing.

His search takes him through catacombs and other unsettling places, haunted by ghosts and phantoms, as he tries to catch up to his sister, who always seems just out of reach.

The game blends a coming-of-age story with psychological horror themes, exploring sibling bonds, fear of death, and the fragility of perception.

The gameplay combines thinking and reflex in a combat system that mixes turn-based planning with bullet-dodging segments and time-based quick-time events. Each encounter is handcrafted rather than randomized, and Théo can equip different abilities and items to adapt to the challenges ahead.

Alongside its mechanical twists, the game is designed with a strong focus on atmosphere. The carefully detailed pixel art style, an original soundtrack composed by Petton himself, and a story that unfolds through mood and exploration aim to immerse players in a world that is both nostalgic and unnerving.

Dreamed Away began as a Kickstarter project and has grown into a fully realized release thanks to community support and years of independent development.

The game will be available on PC through Steam and GOG, as well as on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Ahead of release, players can try a free demo already available on PC that offers around an hour to an hour and a half of gameplay. Below is the release date trailer.
