Currently available in Early Access since September 2024, Silence of the Siren is a promising Strategy RPG heavily inspired by Heroes of Might and Magic, but with a full sci-fi twist. A few days ago, the title developed by Oxymoron Games received a major update called the Winter Planetary Update, packed with new content.

The Winter Planetary Update marks the second major update from the Winter roadmap. This release introduces new maps, units, and gameplay improvements while the development team continues refining the UNSS faction for the upcoming expansion. Players can explore the updated roadmap here.
The update, delivers a wealth of fresh content. A brand-new planet has been added to Skirmish mode, featuring three large maps and a vibrant Crystal biome. The core gameplay theme revolves around gates and keys, introducing up to eight distinct gate-key generator pairs. One of these maps includes a new victory condition, requiring players to hold a base for a designated time.
Additionally, modified versions of existing maps now support 6- and 8-player configurations under custom scenarios. Neutral units Apex and Primal Pylon are now part of the game, alongside a Movement Node map object that replenishes commanders’ movement points.
Several significant gameplay features and improvements enhance depth and usability. Camera functionality has been refined, now following commanders traveling between bases. AI behavior has also been enhanced, with AI-controlled commanders better utilizing the Scout skill and selling surplus items in markets.

Community-driven localization efforts have expanded, with Brazilian Portuguese joining Hungarian and Russian as a supported language in the game. Updates to Hungarian and Russian translations now reflect the latest additions.
A host of bug fixes improve stability and gameplay. Notable fixes include resolving memory leaks, preventing AI commanders from getting stuck in unintended loops, and addressing issues where AI-controlled siege defenders failed to charge.
Various combat-related fixes ensure more accurate unit interactions, such as preventing unintended retaliation mechanics and addressing anomalies in shield behavior. Visual glitches, including unit flickering and misplaced UI elements, have been resolved, while gameplay refinements prevent potential soft locks caused by incorrect resource costs. Silence of the Siren is in early access on PC via Steam.
