A year ago, Songs of Silence stepped into Early Access with little fanfare but a lot of heart. Today, it’s celebrating a quiet but meaningful milestone: over 100,000 copies sold, strong community support, and the release of a free digital anniversary DLC to thank the players who made it possible.

Chimera Entertainment, the Munich-based studio behind the game, announced the giveaway today, a special hero frame available now on Steam, with GOG support coming soon. It’s a modest gesture, but one that fits the tone of a game that’s found success not through flashy marketing, but through word of mouth and genuine appreciation from players.
“We didn’t set out to break records, we set out to make something special,” said Hendrik Lesser, Chimera’s President and Executive Producer on the project. That mindset seems to have paid off. Since its full release in November 2024 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Songs of Silence has slowly but surely built a loyal following. Steam reviews are sitting at “Mostly Positive” (78%) from over 1,500 players, and its Metacritic average of 81 places it comfortably among last year’s best-reviewed strategy games.

The anniversary isn’t just a time for numbers, though. Chimera also released a short video titled 1 Year Anniversary – “Thank You” to honor the fans, artists, and contributors who shaped the game. From its roots as a small passion project in 2021, Songs of Silence has grown into something bigger.
If you haven’t played it, Songs of Silence blends exploration, kingdom management, and real-time tactical combat in a fantasy world being slowly devoured by a force called the Silence. Its Art Nouveau-inspired visuals set it apart, giving each scene and character a painterly quality that fans regularly highlight as one of the game’s standout features. At $29.99, it remains a rare example of a mid-priced, high-polish strategy title.
