Virtual Alchemy, the studio behind the highly anticipated strategy RPG Band of Crusaders, has announced the game’s launch on GOG following strong player feedback. The partnership expands the game’s reach to more RPG and strategy fans, building on the success of its initial reveal on Steam.
Band of Crusaders blends dark medieval lore with tactical real-time combat, featuring a unique Slow Motion mechanic. Drawing comparisons to genre-defining titles such as Baldur’s Gate, Dragon Age: Origins, Battle Brothers and Heroes of Might & Magic, the game allows players to lead a party of warriors through a haunting world filled with demons. These enemies are heavily influenced by European and Slavic folklore, and the game’s design emphasizes the gritty atmosphere of a distorted medieval Europe.
The game’s arrival on GOG is a direct response to player demand, which Virtual Alchemy’s CEO, Dominik Sypnicki, highlighted: “The passion of the gaming community drove this collaboration, and we’re excited to bring Band of Crusaders to a broader audience.” The decision was solidified following feedback during Gamescom, where player enthusiasm pushed both companies to realize the move. The release date has yet to be announced.
