Political chaos meets time-travel livestreaming this summer in The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily. The turn-based strategy game, developed by One or Eight (LOST EPIC) and Alliance Arts, was officially showcased during INDIE Live Expo with nearly an hour of new gameplay footage.

Set in a pre-Internet empire fueled by lies and misinformation, The Great Villainess follows Duchess Scarlet, wrongfully sentenced to death, who is saved at the last second by Lily, a time-traveling livestreamer from the future. Together, they aim to clear Scarlet’s name — not through swords alone, but through manipulating public opinion and enemy movements.

A newly released trailer and a 1-hour-long gameplay video can be found on the Alliance Arts YouTube channel, giving players a full look at Act I and a preview of Act II, introducing 19 new characters, each with unique skills and abilities. Gameplay focuses on broadcasting propaganda from Lily’s aerial blimp to deceive, demoralize, and redirect enemy forces, allowing players to outmaneuver and overpower rival armies.

Victory isn’t just about battlefield tactics — it’s about influencing hearts and minds. Winning over enemy commanders, freeing prisoners to enhance Scarlet’s abilities, and forging strong bonds with allies will be key to expanding the rebellion against the Imperial Kingdom.

“Whether you prefer charming diplomacy or all-out aggression, The Great Villainess offers multiple ways to lead your revolution,” the developers said. “Community feedback played a huge role in shaping the final version, and we’re excited for players to experience it soon.”

The Great Villainess: Strategy of Lily is launching on PC via Steam on July 23, 2025 and will support English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Korean at launch.
