Last week, I published a news update about the announcement of The Beast Hunt, a substantial new DLC for the excellent Wartales. At the time, no release date had been confirmed, but that’s now changed — the DLC is officially set to launch at the end of April.
The DLC expands the medieval tactics RPG with a new storyline that tasks players with hunting down a legendary creature terrorizing the land. You won’t be alone in this grim pursuit: a new ally faction, the Trackers, and the freshly introduced Huntsman profession join the fray. Clues scattered across Brigga piece together the mystery behind the Beast’s whereabouts, while combat against the Ghost Pack — supernatural threats prowling the region — will keep your warband bloodied and battle-tested.
There’s a twist, though. The Beast doesn’t just maul its prey — it corrupts. Your loyal animal companions might fall under its dark sway, risking betrayal mid-fight. Even if you conquer the Beast once, its menace won’t end there. New combat phases and encounters ensure it remains a persistent threat across Brigga.
Alongside the DLC, a free update to the base game adds Fierce Animal units, who come with unique passive abilities and combat advantages. The Huntsman profession will also be available to all players, along with a suite of quality-of-life upgrades.
“The Beast Hunt is built around a legend that longtime players may recognize,” said Quentin Lapeyre, Game Director at Shiro Games. “We’ve grown it into a dangerous, atmospheric storyline set in a region designed to push your warband to its limits.”
