Underrail 2 Overview

Let’s be honest: we’re always on the hunt for something that captures the essence of the original Fallout from the ‘90s, often the gold standard for modern isometric CRPGs. Enter Underrail 2, the sequel from Stygian Software, which seems to draw quite close to that benchmark.

Underrail 2 Gameplay

The big news? The developer recently released an alpha demo gameplay on their YouTube channel, showcasing their ambitious new RPG in action. The setting remains the same as the first game: the sprawling underground tunnels where humanity has taken refuge after nuclear disasters rendered the surface uninhabitable.

What’s changed—and what’s genuinely intriguing—is the combat system. Stygian Software has adopted a mechanic inspired by traditional roguelikes: every time you make a move, the entire world, including all enemies and NPCs, takes their turn simultaneously. This approach appears to add a smooth, dynamic flow to the gameplay experience.

The graphics have also seen a significant upgrade compared to the original. The game boasts higher resolution visuals, better-defined environments, and an improved UI. While it’s still an early alpha, the improvements are already convincing me genuinely.

There’s no Steam page yet, but the official website features the trailer and a few screenshots for fans eager to learn more. For now, the hype is building.
