Estelle’s journey continues this fall as Falcom sets the date for the remake sequel.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter now has an established release date. According to Falcom and GungHo, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will be released on September 17, 2026.

Additionally, the game will have simultaneous releases worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. The official product pages display both standard physical and digital versions. In addition, the product pages list the Golden Wings Edition collector’s edition as available for pre-order on the English version website.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is directly linked to the previous remake, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, which is a remake of the original first Sky entry.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter was a modern remake of the first Sky entry and launched on September 19, 2025. As such, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will cover the events of Trails in the Sky SC and will take place immediately after the conclusion of the first chapter. Therefore, Estelle Bright will continue her search for Joshua after he disappears.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter takes place during a time when Estelle searches for Joshua; she faces a rising threat by Ouroboros, and she finds herself caught up in a large-scale crisis that affects not only Liberl but also extends to the rest of the continent of Zemuria.
In terms of gameplay, Falcom is retaining the systems they implemented in Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. Specifically, the ability to transition smoothly from Quick Battle to Command Battle.
In Quick Battle, players control their characters’ movements and actions in real-time. Conversely, Command Battle slows down to allow for turn-based battles. A major benefit of this system is that it allows players to position themselves according to how they want to approach each encounter, and it also allows them to plan their attacks accordingly.

Additionally, as per Falcom’s release notes regarding the latest update to their games, players will now be able to use multiple Crafts by other party members beyond Estelle and Joshua in Quick Battles. Furthermore, additional Crafts, S-Crafts, and Brave Rush have been added to the combat options. Finally, as per usual for all Trails games, the Tactical Orbment System will once again allow players to assign Quartz to characters to increase their strength and unlock Arts.
Falcom and GungHo are emphasizing side activities, including fishing, poker, and cooking, as well as other playable party members throughout the player’s adventure. For those who completed 1st Chapter and carried over clear data will also be able to unlock “Classic Style SC” costumes for Estelle and Joshua.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is positioned as the ultimate culmination of the ending of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. By returning Estelle, Joshua, and the entire Liberl cast for what will ultimately become the most pivotal chapter of the Sky Arc, rebuilt fully in 3D with a hybrid battle style Falcom developed for remakes of past titles. Below is the release date trailer.
