Here’s a full recap of all the new releases and updates hitting mid-April 2025. It’s been over 10 days since the last roundup, and quite a few games have crossed our path since then. Just a few hours ago, some especially intriguing titles also dropped. Let’s dive into all of them — including a few notable demos you’ll find highlighted at the end of this article.
New PC games to play: Released in the last 10 days
Let’s kick things off with a visually stunning roguelite that delivers more than just good looks. It’s called Sandwalkers, developed by Goblinz Studio — a highly respected name in the indie scene, known both for developing and publishing a strong lineup of standout titles, many of which are turn-based gems.

Sandwalkers is an RPG where you lead expeditions across harsh desert landscapes, carefully managing resources while battling with a party of up to four characters drawn from the diverse races inhabiting the game’s world. I’ve shared a preview of the early access version previously, but just a few days ago, the game officially launched its 2.0 version — definitely worth checking out.
One of the titles we’ve been following for quite a while, after a long development journey, is finally here: Burden of Command. Developed by Green Tree Games, this tactical strategy game is now available and ready to be experienced in all its depth. But don’t expect a typical World War II wargame — Burden of Command dives deep into the emotions and minds of the soldiers who fought it. As the commanding officer, you’ll be tasked with making decisions that not only determine the lives of your troops but also leave lasting impacts on their morale and mental state.
Battle scenarios are recreated with high historical fidelity, and combat actions are designed to simulate real-world military maneuvers, delivering an experience that feels both authentic and emotionally resonant. Another title that might be perfect for your weekend — especially if you’re comfortable with card-based strategy games — is Sultan’s Game. It blends simulation and strategy, though I haven’t had a chance to dive deep into it just yet. We’re currently working on a full review, which should be published here in the next few days.

We can’t go without mentioning SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered, the updated version of one of Square’s most iconic classics. With enhanced visuals and one of the earliest JRPG systems where your choices truly shape the course of the story, this remaster goes beyond simple polish.
Alongside quality-of-life improvements, it introduces new side stories, additional playable characters, and deeper customization options — making it an essential pickup, especially for those of us who’ve been around the genre a little longer.
Next up is a very unique tower defense title that, I admit, I haven’t had time to try out yet. It’s called Gnomes, and as you might guess from the name, it puts you in control of a community of gnomes tasked with building camps, managing harvests, and preparing defenses against the many threats lurking outside. The concept and overall vibe seem incredibly promising — it’s definitely on my must-play list, and it might just land on yours too.
Now diving into the fresh April releases, we find the games that kicked off what’s shaping up to be a packed month: First up is Nif Nif, a truly unique deckbuilder where you guide a little piglet through the forest, with gameplay mechanics focused on gardening and cooking. Then there’s Commander Quest, a strategy game blending auto-battler mechanics with a highly distinctive art style.
LONESTAR follows — a survival game inspired by Faster Than Light — another must-try, and we’re already deep into it to bring you a detailed review soon.

Also out now is Soulkin, a colorful roguelite monster-tamer featuring battles on small hex-grid maps, and Dice ‘n Goblin, a dungeon crawler where you guide a quirky goblin through labyrinths with first-person exploration and a dice-driven combat system.
And just released today, we have something truly wild: Promise Mascot Agency. This one mixes several genres in ways I haven’t fully wrapped my head around yet. It’s filled with bizarre mascots and unlikely heroes, and somewhere amidst all the madness, there seem to be turn-based combat mechanics tied to card usage. Honestly, if you’ve had the chance to try it, let me know — I’m curious to hear more firsthand impressions.
Finally, I want to highlight two newly released updates:
- The Sunshine Update for the monster-taming JRPG Cassette Beasts, which adds a brand-new storyline and new “cassettes” to capture.
- And an exciting expansion for the deckbuilder Knock on the Coffin Lid — called Nightmares of Millenis — introducing tarot-based mechanics, the final chapter of the story, new events, rebalancing, and a host of improvements. I’ve personally spent hours with this one and can say it’s exceptionally well-crafted.
Those are the major new RPG and Strategy games’ new releases — next, let’s dive into some intriguing new demos you should definitely check out to complete the roundup.
New Demos To Try
Let’s step into the playable demos — those quick glimpses of gameplay that can completely shift your perspective, sometimes revealing a hidden gem you didn’t expect to love. Over the past few days, several demos have become available, and here are a few worth checking out:
First up is a demo tied to a title originally released back in 2023: Moonstone Island. It’s a monster-collector with life-sim elements, featuring a turn-based card-driven combat system and charming pixel art visuals. Another demo we recently highlighted is Deep Fridge, an RPG with grid-based tactical combat where you can heavily influence the battlefield by raising and lowering terrain heights. I described it as Battle Brothers — but with robots.

If you’re looking for more, there are two roguelites you should definitely keep an eye on.
The first is Fogpiercer, which features a caravan-building gameplay loop where different modules are managed using cards, while fending off enemy attacks coming from all sides. The full release is targeted for Q3 2025, so in the meantime, try out the demo and let me know what you think. The second is a slightly unsettling but highly promising tactical roguelite featuring grid-based combat on eerie, atmospheric maps and it’s called Inkshade.
And last but not least, it’s absolutely worth mentioning that a brand-new demo for Persona 3 Reload — the enhanced version of the classic Atlus JRPG — has unexpectedly dropped on Steam.
That wraps up all the major highlights for now. As always, I’m looking forward to hearing your picks and recommendations too!
