It’s one of those small exceptions I sometimes make on TBL for games that don’t technically use turn-based mechanics.
That’s the case with Dust Raiders, a fascinating survival RPG that throws us into a post-apocalyptic desert straight out of Mad Max.
As we travel between villages, we’ll engage in vehicular combat where the only element pulling it away from pure real-time is a slow-motion feature that lets us decide which weapons to fire and how to maneuver.
The game launched on PC back in July, and I had the chance to try it myself not too long ago. You can find more details here, but in the meantime, developer Vixa Games has just shared its roadmap outlining the updates and improvements planned for the coming months.
The first update, expected around September 16, introduces Free Play mode after the main story, allowing players to continue their journey without time restrictions.
Crew members will also provide bonuses even when stationed in cargo, while some will give additional combat benefits when moved into vehicles. Workshop inventories will gain randomization to make scavenging less predictable, and a new tier of equipment will increase upgrade variety.
By the end of September, three different game modes will be added: Balanced, Trade Focus, and Combat Focus.
Each will be available in both manual save and Iron Road versions, offering more flexibility in how the game is played. Mid-October will bring more random events and the ability to purchase and customize enemy vehicles, adding new options for caravan management.
Late October focuses on quest content, with additional mission types for the Enclave and more variety for colonist transport objectives in the endgame.
Challenge modes are planned to arrive between October and November, introducing new mechanics and constraints aimed at players looking for tougher goals. The roadmap also includes the release of the official soundtrack, a feature many players have requested.
