Developers and publisher 2×2 Games, Croteam, just announced new content for their “Very Positive” World War II Strategy game Unity of Command II. The upcoming Berlin DLC, scheduled for release in Q4 2024, brings two comprehensive campaigns capturing the final stages of World War II. Players will experience pivotal battles such as the end of the Leningrad siege, the Korsun Pocket, and Operation Bagration, alongside alt-history scenarios spanning Yugoslavia to the Romanian oil fields.

Key features include the Soviet Victory in the East campaign with 25 scenarios and the Balaton 45 Axis mini-campaign with a focus on Hungary and Romania. The DLC offers reworked unit stats, expanded map coverage, and new models for various late-war units. This expansion promises an immersive and historically rich gaming experience. Below all the details about Berlin DLC.

Unity Of Command II

In early 1944, the Soviets squeezed German forces in the Korsun Pocket, a brutal winter encirclement battle and a major victory that chipped away at German strength. They also finally lifted the long Siege of Leningrad in January.

The summer of 1944 saw the massive Operation Bagration, a surprise attack that shattered German Army Group Center. By the fall, Soviet forces were on the offensive all along the Eastern Front, setting the stage for the final push into Germany in 1945. By February, the Soviets stood on the Oder River, just east of Berlin.

The final assault on Berlin began in mid-April. Soviet troops encircled the city, battling their way through the streets in fierce close-quarters combat. Hitler committed suicide on April 30th, and Berlin fell on May 2nd, marking the fall of Nazi Germany.

FEATURES

  • Soviet Victory in the East campaign: the full late-war Soviet experience with 25 scenarios, starting in January 1944 and culminating in the fall of Berlin.
  • Balaton 45 Axis mini-campaign: the last-ditch offensive in Hungary and Romania in 1945, a 7-scenario banger with an alt-history branch, a hallmark of Unity of Command II DLC.

  • Map Coverage: extended to cover all of Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Romania.
  • New Models: Soviet-allied units, Yugoslav Partisans, late-war Hungarians, Volkssturm and more.
