It’s definitely one of the titles I’m most looking forward to, thanks to its sandbox structure, combat system, and the sheer edge that seems to define this irreverent tactical RPG.

I’m talking about Happy Bastards, a sandbox tactical RPG that echoes the structure of Battle Brothers, but with a distinct visual style, an equally unconventional concept, and a setup that puts us in the shoes of Kev, an opportunist willing to sacrifice anyone on his team for profit or simply to save his own skin.
Alongside the release of a new trailer, developers Clever Plays have also made a demo available, giving players a taste of both the combat system and dungeon exploration.
As has become my recent habit, I’ve included a portion of my gameplay walkthrough below, where you can check out what I consider a top-tier UI, along with the combat mechanics, including the Sweep feature, which lets you swap in a reserve teammate mid-battle.
Happy Bastards is slated for PC via Steam, and this demo confirmed for me that this is absolutely a game worth keeping on your radar.
