Week Long Deals August 6 2024

The Week Long Deal discounts open the door to many videogames that have often been overlooked due to their slightly inaccessible costs at launch or because they simply never drop in price.

As you can guess from the name, these discounts last quite a while, usually starting on Monday and ending the following Monday or something like that. Today, I took a look at my endless Wishlist and picked out some RPGs that, thanks to the applied discount, make the game a must-buy.

Here are 10 RPGs that you can buy for just a few dollars during the discount period. The first one I want to recommend is SteamWorld Heist. This colorful adventure takes the player into a Steampunk world populated by robots, where players inject inside Captain Piper Faraday and her crew, facing a series of tactical battles on 2D maps where bank shots are mandatory to gain the upper hand over enemies. My recommendation is based on the fact that the second chapter of the series, which I’m currently playing and finding awesome, will be released in a few days. So, by spending a few dollars, you can adequately prepare for SteamWorld Heist 2. With a 75% discount, the price is around $3.70.

Sunday Gold Review
A sparkling mix of point-and-click and turn-based mechanics for Sunday Gold.

Another interesting RPG I propose is Sunday Gold. Stylish, aggressive, and transformative, thanks to its storyline and the mix of point-and-click adventure and turn-based combat. The 2022 title with a “mostly positive” score puts the players in the shoes of a trio of misfits who, this time, will play heroes to expose the misdeeds of a secret corporation. Currently, its price is about $5 thanks to the 75% discount.

Let’s shift focus to something tactical with Crimson Tactics: The Rise of the White Banner. An RPG in the style of Final Fantasy Tactics, it tells the conflict in the fantasy world of Wendalle. Amid battles and political intrigues, the players face scenarios on grid maps, with the unique ability to ride creatures and dragons and even bring them into combat. While it has somewhat mixed reviews, it’s definitely worth a try for all fans of the genre, especially at a price of around $11.

For just a few more bucks, you can take home Spellforce: Conquest of EO. One of the best recent Strategic RPGs, it’s preparing to release new content, as we saw in the weekly recap on Saturday. In SpellForce: Conquest of Eo, players take on the role of a wizard’s heir, managing a mystical tower and mastering a wide array of spells to cast over the land while engaging in tactical turn-based battles, summoning minions, and training mighty warriors while exploring the vast and magical Realm of Eo. It’s currently available at a 50% discount.

Another title I highly recommend is Nitro Kid. A Roguelite Deckbuilding game where players take on the role of a hero akin to a modern Bruce Lee. By skillfully using their deck, they must navigate through criminals, computers, and robots in relatively confined environments. Perfect for deckbuilder enthusiasts, it’s available for about $5.

Crown Trick
Crown Trick is one of the most fun traditional roguelikes out there.

If you enjoy traditional roguelikes, then you should check out this intriguing 2020 title called Crown Trick. It boasts a lot of style and offers very interesting dynamics where players need to think and use the environment to unleash devastating attacks. With many items and weapons to use and randomly generated dungeons, it offers hours of gameplay for just around $5, and I assure you it’s worth it.

Expeditions: Rome is often on sale, and I recall including it in several discount lists. In any case, the current 60% discount, which brings one of the best recent RPGs to around $17, couldn’t go unmentioned. Set in Ancient Rome, players play the role of a fleeing Legatus, making numerous choices and engaging in tactical battles that you’ll surely appreciate.

The Lamplighters League
Jump in the Pulp1930 of The Lamplighters League.

It had a rough start review-wise, but several updates have brought The Lamplighters League back up to a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam. This tactical RPG set in the 1930s features a band of unlikely heroes up against a secret organization. Each hero belongs to a different class and brings skills to combat and to the stealth exploration phases. It’s available at a 50% discount, priced at about $24.

Another mix of point-and-click and Turn-Based gameplay is The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales. I should warn you that the turn-based aspect is relatively light as the game focuses more on exploration and puzzle-solving. However, the graphic style and recreated environments deserve to be played and explored, taking players through famous stories to find and steal legendary items. The Bookwalker is also 50% off, totaling around $7.

Finally, the title that’s a bit pricier than the others, but also the most recent in this article, as it was released a few months ago, is Crown Wars. Highly anticipated, it may have slightly disappointed expectations in some ways. Nevertheless, it’s a tactical RPG set during the revisited historical events of the Hundred Years’ War. Players develop their base and launch operations on grid maps, utilizing various classes and skills available. It’s discounted by 30%, bringing the price to around $27.

These were some titles I grabbed from my playlist and recommend you try. Let me know what you think of these games, and if you have any other recommendations by join me on the newly launched Reddit community or on X (formerly Twitter).
