Ashes of Morgravia Overview

This morning on TBL, I’m introducing an RPG that features a combat system built around two distinct decks—one for actions and skills, and another for movement across hex-grid maps—making it a relatively original take on the genre.

Ashes of Morgravia is an upcoming tactical roguelite deckbuilder that blends grimdark fantasy with tense, position-based combat. Developed by background blur., this single-player tactical RPG drops you into a god-haunted world where sunlight is a myth, and survival hinges on mastering two distinct decks: one for movement, one for combat.

Ashes of Morgravia Tactical Deckbuilding RPG

The game’s signature dual-deck system forces players to think spatially. Movement and combat aren’t just separate mechanics—they’re separate decks, meaning you’ll need to adapt constantly to what your hand allows—facing down necrotic abominations, navigating cursed ruins, and gathering lost relics utilizing fully animated cards and a stark art style built around deep shadows and divine gold.

I think the game is perfect for fans of Slay the Spire, Darkest Dungeon, or top-down soulslike experiences, and they should keep an eye on this one. The lore runs deep, choices matter, and each run feels like crawling through a forgotten legend. No release date yet beyond 2025. Below an overview via Steam, screens, and trailer.

Set in a dark fantasy world reminiscent of the titles that inspired the souls-like genre, the game immerses you in a setting where decaying gods loom over a ruined landscape, and the remnants of divine conflict shape every encounter.
