MicroProse will publish Deck and Conn, a turn-based tactics game that fuses Cold War-era naval strategy with retro-futuristic science fiction.

Developed by FUNTIME ELECTRICS, the title imagines a nuclear corvette patrolling deep space “fifteen minutes into the future of 1989,” drawing on the style of early MicroProse classics and even paying tribute to the 1971 Super Star Trek mainframe game.
Players take command of their crew in a forever-war among the stars, where every mission demands careful decision-making. Choices range from responding to distress calls and intercepting hostile vessels to managing scarce resources and upgrading vital systems.

Patrols form part of a branching dynamic campaign, but tactical fundamentals can also be tested in standalone combat scenarios. Leadership is key, as crew promotions and the reputation of the ship evolve across encounters.
Combat unfolds in a turn-based fashion, with limited resources and intricate system management shaping the outcome of each battle. Players can opt to capture or destroy enemy ships, gaining rewards that feed back into the campaign.

Alongside the strategic gameplay, the presentation leans into hand-crafted pixel art evocative of the early ’90s era of MicroProse, complete with a retro interface and a focus on detail.
The project comes from Elissa Black and the Sydney-based team at FUNTIME ELECTRICS, whose previous work includes Objects in Space, Swords of Freeport, and Metrocide. With Deck and Conn, the studio has set out to create what it calls “AAA games from 1992,” marrying nostalgia with modern polish.

For MicroProse, the partnership reflects a continued effort to support both its historic catalog and a new wave of strategy and simulation titles.
Deck and Conn is available to wishlist now on Steam, where players can follow its development and be notified ahead of release. Below are more details about it and the announcement trailer.
About The Game
Deck and Conn is a retro-inspired, single-player turn-based tactics game where you command a Cold War-style nuclear corvette — in space. Lead your crew through an endless war in deep space. Respond to distress calls, upgrade your systems, capture enemy ships, and rise through the ranks. Each decision you make — from combat strategy to crew management — shapes your ship’s legacy.
