South Pole Bepop

Set against the backdrop of a beleaguered Antarctic village, players must defend against relentless zombie hordes unleashed by a shadowy AI organization. In this hostile environment, the stakes are high: protect your base, eliminate your opponents, and uncover the dark secrets of the zombie plague.

Players will strategically position their bases and characters on a nine-by-nine grid, leveraging a unique deckbuilding system to gain the upper hand. With experience points earned from zombie kills, players can level up and acquire powerful ability cards to enhance their characters and fortify their bases. The game also features adaptive AI, daily and weekly quests, and a tiered reward system, ensuring every session is fresh and engaging.

Gameplay Mechanics

South Pole Bebop challenges players with a dynamic nine-by-nine battlefield, where the key to victory lies in tactical positioning and resourceful deckbuilding. In the distinctive three-way battle mode, players must decide between direct combat with opponents and defending their bases from the ceaseless zombie onslaught. Success in these battles grants experience points, allowing players to purchase and utilize ability cards that can turn the tide in their favor. These cards offer a variety of strategic options, from diverting zombie attacks to opponents to healing and teleporting characters.

Deckbuilding is a core aspect of the game, enabling players to create personalized decks comprising three characters and up to 15 ability cards. Each deck tracks win rates and statistics, helping players refine their strategies for future battles. The game also features a tutorial for newcomers, adaptive AI that scales with player skill, and regularly updated quests that offer valuable rewards.

The Normal and Premium Canvas systems provide additional challenges and rewards, with the Premium Canvas offering higher stakes and greater prizes. As players complete these challenges, they unlock secret items and boosts that enhance their gameplay experience. South Pole Bebop is set to launch in early access on August 8 (EDT) / August 9 (CET) on Steam. Below is an overview, screens and trailer.

About This Game

A multiplayer turn-based strategy game inspired by Into The Breach. Destroy all of your opponent’s bases or characters to dominate your game.
Plan your moves carefully, position your characters strategically, and engage in combat with both opponents and zombies. Build a unique deck of cards to upgrade your bases and enhance your characters’ skills. Choose 3 characters from a diverse selection, each with distinct abilities. Embrace your strategic prowess to become the ultimate zombie slayer and the hero of The South Pole!

Multiplayer (Player VS Player)

The multiplayer mode is tailored for 2 players. You can be matched with random players of similar skill or invite a friend to join your lobby using a lobby code.

Player VS AI Bot

Compete against a powerful AI Bot. The AI Bot adjusts to your skill level, encouraging you to develop new and sophisticated strategies.

Introducing a PvPvE (Player vs Player (or AI Bot) vs Environment) battle. In this setup, both players (or a Player and AI Bot) confront each other as well as the challenging game Environment, symbolized by zombies. Zombies serve as a mutual adversary for both players, neutral and hostile to all parties involved.

Zombies

Zombies also take their turn in each round. During their turn, they can attack bases or characters of yours or your opponent.
Both players can attack zombies and kill them, but it’s not that simple as zombies are powerful characters. They can spawn continuously throughout the game.
The more you engage in combat with zombies, the higher the probability that they will focus their attacks on you rather than your opponent.
Gain mastery over the zombies and redirect their focus toward your opponent by strategically utilizing your deck.

Create two unique decks of characters and ability cards before your game. The deck collects information about your win rate with a particular character and card setup. Evaluate your decks and opt for the most potent one. Experiment with different card and character combinations to craft the optimal strategy. Be mindful of your deck selection as it decides the outcome of your game.

Character deck

Choose 3 characters from a selection of unlockable characters, each boasting distinct abilities. These characters are divided into three classes: melee, artillery, and ranged. Regardless of your preference for a specific class or attacking style, you have the freedom to mix and match characters to suit your strategic preferences, whether that means engaging enemies up close or from a distance.

Card deck

Equip up to 15 ability cards when creating a deck. Ability cards can be applied to characters or bases during a game.
They grant special abilities to your characters or facilitate their recovery, such as replenishing health.
Additionally, they can fortify the resilience of bases. To acquire cards, you’ll need to gather cores, which are earned by battling zombies or your opponent. Exercise caution in your core expenditures, as they play a crucial role in your strategic decisions.
