Today, I’m introducing you to a unique blend of genres — a kind of hybrid born from Slay the Spire and Into the Breach.
RuneHeads, the studio behind Fall of Light and Conglomerate 451, is back with Journey to the Void — a bold new hybrid of strategy, roguelite, and deckbuilding action. Co-published with AnotherIndie, this grid-based adventure challenges players to fend off relentless attacks, make tough moral decisions, and fight to reclaim a world poisoned by corruption.

In Journey to the Void, players select a starting point among eight distinct biomes, each offering exclusive elemental cards and heroes with over 300 cards, items, and weapons to discover and a combat system that takes place on a grid where your hero fights from the center, facing enemies coming from every direction.
The game emphasizes choice at every turn. More than 100 decision-driven encounters will not only shape each individual run, but can permanently alter the world across future playthroughs. Heroes, too, come with randomized traits — some helpful, others not so much — adding even more unpredictability to every journey. Players can expect over 120 unique enemies, 10 bosses, 25 arenas, and a branching world that responds to their actions with a hero build that happens through essences and powerful deck synergies.
Journey to the Void does not yet have a release date, but is currently available to wishlist on Steam, and soon there will be a playable demo. Below is an overview, screens, and gameplay trailer.

In this hybrid roguelite strategy-deck builder, use your deck wisely, every choice and hand played could mean victory or defeat. Strategically stack attacks, unleash devastating abilities, and wield the power of the elements in your favour. Prepare to fend off attacks from all directions in a grid-based combat system, where your hero stands in the centre of the action.
Strategic Deckcraft
With over 100 unique cards, weapons, and items to discover, no two runs are ever the same. Build powerful deck synergies, fine-tune your strategy before each battle, and take on wave after wave of enemies. The right choices could mean survival… or else lead to a devastating defeat!
A Path of Choices
Encounter merchants, buy or sell rare trinkets, and prepare your hero for battle. As you journey deeper into the void, you will come face to face with encounters – each one presenting a crucial choice which could alter your fate for this run and future runs. Will you play it safe, or embrace the unknown? Every decision has consequences… and only the bold will thrive.
Heroes of the Void
At the start of every run, you’ll choose a brand-new hero, each hailing from different regions of the world. Each hero comes with distinct traits that can shape your fate, for better or worse. Gather XP points through combat and successful encounters to craft your ideal build by choosing how to level up your hero.
The Corrupted World
The world, divided into eight elemental regions, will permanently react to the multitude of choices you make. Choose your starting point wisely, with each region offering new heroes, powerful elemental cards and unique interactions to the region. Each time you play, experience completely unique runs within an overarching story, with over 100 enemies, 10 bosses, different starting decks and 25 arenas to discover.
