Menace from the Deep plunges players into a sinister, card-based battle against horrors inspired by Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. Set in a shadowy version of 1920s America, the game explores the inner workings of a hidden occult society grappling with the dark power of an enigmatic monolith called the Heart of the Sea.
This roguelite deckbuilding features three distinct heroes, each equipped with their own deck and unique fighting style, as they embark on nightmarish journeys across a gritty, haunted landscape.
Players will gather and upgrade a vast array of cards, along with powerful relics, equipment, and consumables, to survive and uncover the mysteries within this twisted world. The game’s distinctive travel system adds strategic depth, as players use travel cards to explore eerie locations, each with its own risks and lore-rich encounters.
Building materials collected along the way can be used to upgrade a secret base, providing valuable perks that make each subsequent run more manageable.
Social dynamics add another layer of intrigue—players can find allies or summon support through rituals and special cards, uncovering the hidden secrets of the society’s members. Each character holds a piece of the society’s tragic backstory, revealed through memory fragments scattered across the game’s twisted locales.
Developed and published by Flatcoon, Menace from the Deep is set for release on November 11, 2024, on PC via Steam.
