Instrument of Power RPG

Instruments of Power is the debut game from Iron Loop Games, shown for the first time during Steam’s Debut Festival.

It is a tactical RPG with roguelite elements, set in a dark fantasy world where an ancient evil spreads through the land. Players step into the role of a mage who has lost her body after a world-changing discovery went wrong, binding her soul to a hidden sanctuary beyond space and time.

Gameplay

From there, she can project fragile avatars into the world to reclaim lost sites of power and push back against the shadows she helped unleash.

The game focuses on spell crafting as much as it does on combat. Instead of picking spells from a fixed list, players build them from catalysts, effects, and modifiers found in battle.

Each spell can be shaped to counter specific enemies and situations, with tactics shifting based on what foes bring to the fight. Avatars are powerful but temporary, and every new projection weakens the tether keeping the mage in the world, forcing a balance between aggression and caution.

Play alternates between managing the sanctuary and fighting on the battlefield. In the sanctuary, players work with the mysterious Entity that saved them, crafting spells, upgrading avatars, and deciding where to strike next.

Out in the field, turn-based combat plays out on handcrafted maps with layered objectives, enemy forces with unique abilities, and ancient structures that can change the flow of battle.

Captured sites generate Influence, which can unlock new regions or unleash powerful curses against enemies. Death means losing ground as enemy forces reclaim territory, but the war continues until the truth behind the darkness is uncovered.

Instrument of Power Gameplay

The story offers two possible endings shaped by the player’s decisions, and the game’s mix of deep customization and tactical play is meant to make each run feel different.

Instruments of Power is planned for PC, with English and French language support, and is now available to wishlist on Steam along with a teaser trailer showing its grim world and strategic battles.
