Ancient Egypt has inspired plenty of video games over the years, but Nimaat looks like it wants to explore that setting from a much darker angle. Developed and published by RaObscura, the upcoming PC RPG takes players into a corrupted vision of Egypt where faith has collapsed, and divine power has turned hostile.

Nimaat RPG

At its core, Nimaat is a psychological turn-based RPG with a grim atmosphere, pixel-art presentation, and a combat system built around timing mechanics.

Battles include limb targeting, timing-based actions, parries, and reactive mechanics that should make each encounter feel more hands-on than the usual menu-driven RPGs. Players will face soldiers, monsters, and fallen godlike beings, with combat seemingly designed to be punishing, tactical, and unforgiving.

Nimaat Combat system

Nimaat draws inspiration from ancient Egyptian mythology and the Akhenaten era, but it doesn’t appear to be chasing a clean historical retelling. Instead, it twists that imagery into something oppressive and unsettling, where temples, cities, and sacred places become stages for horror and supernatural decay.

Player choice also seems to play an important role. The game promises branching decisions, shifting alliances, and multiple endings, meaning the journey should not be limited to combat progression alone.

Your decisions are expected to shape how the story unfolds, who stands with you, and what kind of ending waits at the bottom of this broken world.

Visually, Nimaat leans into a 2D pixel-art style, everything shown so far points toward a bleak, mature RPG with psychological horror elements, violent encounters, and a heavy narrative focus.

Nimaat is currently in development for PC via Steam, with a demo already available and the full release date still to be announced. Below is the official demo trailer.
