Gamescom 2021 Turn-Based Recap

Hi, Aiori here. How are you? How were your holidays? If you didn’t have holidays, the only thing that I can say is that you are not alone. This week was the Gamescom, and several titles were revealed, with a good amount of turn-based games on their ranks. Let’s see what is waiting for the turn-based lovers in the following months.

The Amazing American Circus

A deck-building game settled on an America’s Gilded Age circus. Focused on the story, it has management and exploration elements too. On TBL, we tried it. Estimated release date: 16th September 2021.

Arcadian Atlas

A tactical RPG with several character classes and tons of skills to use. Settled for 2022, now there is a demo on steam to try it.

Broken Roads

A tactical RPG with important choices which influences the story, settled on a post-apocalyptic Australia. It comes in 2022.

Chaos gate: Daemon Hunters

Take the role of the Grey Knights to purge an interplanetary plague on this tactical RPG. It comes in 2022.

Coromon

A monster taming, AKA Pokemon like-game with pleasant pixel art and tons of creatures to catch. There is a demo on steam to try it. Estimated release date: Q1, 2022.

Dark Deity (Switch)

Tactical turn-based JRPG with Fire Emblem vibes. After its success on PC, it will arrive to Nintendo Switch next year.

Jupiter Moons: Mecha

A deck-builder roguelike with mechas. You can customize your equipment to destroy your enemies in different ways. The demo is available on Steam. No release date yet.

Lemnis Gate

A turn-based first-person shooter where you have time to manage your actions before the action. Estimated release date: 28th September 2021.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

A tactical RPG from the creators of modern X COM games, Firaxis, but with the Marvel characters… One of the wishes of the turn-based lovers’ community. It comes in March 2022.

Oaken

A turn-based roguelike, with deck management and tactical battles with 3D figurines, on a hexagonal grid. One of the surprises of the event. Announced for next year.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

Another title from the creators of Pathfinder: Kingmaker. A CRPG with hours of entertainment. Release date: 2nd September 2021.

Project Haven

A tactical RPG located in a dystopic future. It has a mature story, and there is the option to play it cooperatively. On TBL we tried the demo. It comes in 2022.

Sandwalkers

A roguelike turn-based exploration game where you can build your team to accomplish your mission. No release date yet.

Vagrus: The river realms

A turn-based post-apocalyptic fantasy RPG where you trade, fight and explore for the success of your merchant company, Vagrus. Currently, on Early Access on Steam. Release date: 5th October 2021.

Wolfstride

Turn-based RPG where the protagonist is the battles between giant mechas. Repair and upgrade them to defeat all your rivals. There is a demo on steam and on TBL we tried it. No release date yet.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel & Rush Duel

A couple of games based on the popular trading card series. The difference between them is the style and the rules applied on each game, being the rules of Rush Duel simpler. Release date: Fall 2021

As you read, there are interesting turn-based titles for the following months. For which one are you more hyped? Which was your favourite? One thing is sure, turn-based games are alive.
