October 2022 looks quite interesting in terms of quality PC turn-based games. Lots of brand-new releases and some famous franchises are ready to be ported to PC too. Let me know if i missed something as surely i did.
Vault of the Void
After almost two years of Early Access and lots of positive reviews on Steam, Vault of the Void by Spider Nest Games is ready to release its version 1.0 Vault Of the Void is a deckbuilding rogue-lite adventure where players must organize their deck accordingly to whom the enemy will be.
Each card can be customized by socketing runes inside them that will grant new abilities. An impressive number of cards to collect, 4 classes to choose from, lots of monsters and more. Be ready for the 4th of October.
Those in need of a JRPG this month can rely on Manafinder by Wolfsden LLC. Taking inspiration from the classic of the past, Manafinder offers a not-so-long story (8-12 hours) but full of creatures, charismatic characters, and 2 different endings based on the player’s choices during the game. Set to be released on the 5th of October on Steam
Deadland 4000 by indie dev Cain Laikind is a roguelike set in a post-apocalyptic world. Players will explore the ruined world in the shoes of one of the various classes available, each one with its own equipment and perks. Lots of artifacts to find and a no-exp-point leveling system, which instead is based on tome players will find along the way, which will grant new skills to the player. Deadland 4000 is set to be released on the 7th of October via Steam.
I think the month of October is really interesting, especially for PC gamers given the important ports that are about to arrive. Triangle Strategy does not need great introductions, one of the latest efforts by Square Enix, precisely from the developers of the Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default series.
Billed as a spiritual heir to Final Fantasy Tactics, Triangle Strategy is ready to debut on PC through Steam. Tactical battles familiar to all FFT lovers and an intricate story with many decisions to make. October 13th is around the corner.
Sunday Gold by BKOM Studios is a turn-based point & click adventure which has the potential to be a smashing hit thanks to its style and unique gameplay mechanics. Observing the surrounding, looking for clues solving puzzles in turn-based it’s something new and never seen.
Sunday Gold offers this and classic turn-based combats with a Stress Level system. If you don’t want to wait for the 13h of october, there is a free prologue version that gives you a full idea of what to expect.
Tactics and Fire Emblem fans must be very excited for Lost Eidolons by Ocean Drive Studios. The fantasy turn-based strategy game will bring players into a middle of a civil war. As a mercenary captain Eden, players must explore the world, exploiting the bond system with more than 20 playable characters to meet and convince to join the cause, and fight on square grid-based maps with wonderful cinematic effects.
Another game waited for the 13th of October on Steam.
Of Blades & Tails
I confess that Of Blades & Tails by indie dev Felix Laukel is one of the most anticipated games of October for me. A roguelike experience that let players become a fox named Reik and guide him through an anthropomorphic world full of dungeons to explore, quests to complete, and a classless system where the more a player will use a skill the better he becomes in that skill.
There is a demo available if you would like to test the quality of the game while the early access release date is set for the 19th of October 2022.
Persona 5 Royal
Few games are more iconic and long-lived than the Persona series. In October, PC gamers will finally be able to get their hands on the fifth installment of the series in the Royal version. A version that compared to the original adds new characters, new events, and new gameplay mechanics. The release date is scheduled for October 21 on Steam.
Cesspool by Guillaume “Tryton” Collignon is a minimalistic turn-based JRPG with madness all around. A classic, but not so classic turn-based combat system where skills are played through mini-games. By slaying monsters, players will collect grey matter used to improve the hero’s characteristics.
The game went through a successful Kickstarter campaign and is now ready for full release on the 28th of October on Steam.
Star Shift Rebellion
Star Shift Rebellion by Psychronic Game Studios is a turn-based RPG that offers a classic battle system and a tactical one for army and ship battles. A world to explore, a unique character development system based upon knowledge point player will acquire through battles, and a skill tree related to the hero class and species.
You can try the game when it launches on the 31st of October 2022 on Steam.
