Shadows of Thornkeep’s developer Tryzna83, has posted a brief Steam update titled “The Calm Before the Descent,” a status check ahead of the game’s Early Access launch. The post doesn’t introduce new features; it points players to what to expect as the project approaches its planned release window.

Shadows Of Thornkeep is a first-person, grid-based crawler with turn-based combat and a roguelite loop. You guide a party of “lost souls” across a rain-scoured island, push tile by tile through cursed halls, and fight in paced, tactical encounters.
Between expeditions, you return to a camp hub to patch up, manage gear, and plan the next descent.

The developer expects a short EA period of roughly three to four months focused on testing, bug-fixing, and UI polish, with a price increase of about 30% at 1.0.
The initial build includes the Thornkeep camp hub and three expedition areas, the Veiled Thicket, the Black Woods, and the Swamps, plus their underground layers, for an estimated ten hours of play.

Post-EA goals include additional endgame content; one early idea is opening a metal gate in the base camp to a new hub tied to a “Tree of Blood.”
The developer, Tryzna83, frames Early Access as a continuation of a community-driven approach used on prior projects, citing feedback-led tuning on Blasted Road Terror and Dreadborne Drifters. Players interested in progress updates can wishlist or follow the game on Steam as it moves toward its Q4 target, probably November 4, 2025.
