The game I’m showcasing today comes from two years of hard work by solo indie dev Tryzna83, and given his previous project and the screenshots of this new one, I’m pretty interested in what he has in store with Shadows of Thornkeep.
His earlier title, Blasted Road Terror, was a very intriguing real-time tactics game where you fought using vehicles called warcrawlers, stacked with weaponry, and had to push through roads while facing all kinds of enemy rigs with missiles, flamethrowers, turrets, etc., all wrapped in some really well-executed pixel art FTL-Gameplay.
This new project is something completely different from that game because we’re jumping into an entirely different genre (even if the pixel art still looks top-tier): we’re moving into the world of dungeon crawler RPGs.
Dark-fantasy setting, grid-based exploration, and turn-based combat, paired with roguelite progression.
You guide a band of lost souls across a rain-soaked island, push tile by tile through cursed halls, and fight in classic encounters where it looks like each member of the party can use a basic attack or a skill.
Death isn’t permanent; revival is part of the loop, but it carries a cost, so party and camp management, gear, and cursed relics drive progression.
Early Access is planned for late October 2025 on Steam with a playable build in itch.io. This EA build centers on the Thornkeep camp hub and includes three expedition regions, each with its own underground layers, enemies, and loot, for roughly 10 hours of play.
The developer expects a 3–4 month EA window. Post-launch goals include opening a mysterious metal gate in the base to a new hub with a Tree of Blood for further progression.
