Lords of Ravage Dread Knights Overview

After a demo, a free prologue, and plenty of event showings, Lords of Ravage has finally locked in a release date, and it isn’t far off.

It’s a roguelite RPG from developer Synthetic Domain and publisher 101XP where players are in command of an expanding Empire of Darkness, with a focus on assembling and upgrading an army of followers, crushing opposition in tactical encounters, and pursuing a world-changing artifact.

Lords of Ravage Dread Knights

Players take the role of one of three Lords, Berold, Zavris, or Azneya, each with a distinct campaign, mechanics, and faction makeup.

Campaign progress strengthens the chosen Lord and broadens the roster of available units and tools. New minions and upgrades unlock across runs, encouraging different squad combinations and strategies in subsequent attempts.

Dread Knights Prologue

Combat is turn-based and party-driven, with opponents built around specific behaviors and synergies, ranging from classic adventurer parties to military expeditions.

Outside battles, the campaign layer asks players to weaken kingdoms before direct confrontations by undermining political and economic power, bribing nobility, razing and pillaging for resources, and acquiring artifacts and “Orders” that can swing difficult fights.

A non-linear story that reacts to player choices, including whether to obliterate enemy realms outright or sow discord among allied heroes.

Progression revolves around recruiting and mixing units from different factions to balance strengths and cover weaknesses, then investing plundered gold into stat upgrades or additional hires.

Orders function as tide-turning abilities during encounters, while artifacts add further build variety. The game’s presentation blends traditional pixel art with modern lighting and effects, aiming for a crisp 2.5D look across its maps, character art, and combat VFX.

For anyone who wants an early feel for the concept, Synthetic Domain released a free prologue, Lords of Ravage: Dread Knights, in January. It’s a standalone slice built to preview core systems and the villain-led framing. Players can also sample the full game via the current demo on the main store page.

Lords of Ravage launches October 15, 2025 on Steam, with a demo available now. Below is the latest trailer available.
