Independent studio Odencat will return to the world of Meg’s Monster next month with Lost Memories, a new story-driven DLC expected for December 2025.
The expansion acts as a prequel set before the events of the main game and focuses on a series of interlocking character vignettes designed to deepen the emotional core and broader lore that helped Meg’s Monster stand out in 2023.
A new key visual and trailer released today give a first look at the darker tone and underworld snapshots players can expect from the add-on content.
Meg’s Monster: Lost Memories is built as a short, concentrated experience of roughly two hours, split across five distinct stories, each following a different character whose life brushes against the underworld.
Players will step into the shoes of an MMA fighter pushing his body to pay for his brother’s treatment, a young girl living under the quiet strain of her parents’ anxiety before her fifth birthday, and an unnamed creature sent to carry out a killing.
Other chapters follow a man reborn as a monster who dedicates himself to improving underworld society, and a monster child raised as test material inside a laboratory. Each scenario is written to stand on its own while feeding into the wider tapestry of Meg’s Monster, reinforcing its recurring themes of love, sacrifice, and the fragile line between human and monster.
Lost Memories functions as a narrative anthology that rewards those who connected with Odencat’s careful character work the first time around.
The DLC focuses on grounded, personal perspectives, using familiar locations and new angles on side characters to clarify histories that were previously only hinted at. According to lead developer Ryota, the team constructed a detailed internal timeline to align every event and movement in the underworld, using Lost Memories as a way to solidify that chronology and share it directly with players.
Lost Memories arrives as a digital add-on for Meg’s Monster on Steam on December 4, 2025, following earlier plans that tied the content to the Japanese physical edition on Nintendo Switch before its wider release.
The base game is currently available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox platforms, and remains recommended for players who want a compact, story-heavy RPG with a sharp emotional hook.
