The ReFantazio heads to Nintendo’s ecosystem as Atlus and Sega confirm that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have Metaphor: ReFantazio available starting on November 12th, 2026. Atlus announced the switch during the latest Nintendo Direct, providing fans of the company a new way to enjoy this role-playing game.

Metaphor Refantazio

Metaphor: ReFantazio was originally released in 2024, developed by Studio Zero, an Atlus development group headed by several of the same developers behind the Persona series.

As such, while Metaphor takes place in a full-fantasy world instead of a modern high school, the studio retained many of the features that they are known for. These include traveling throughout the United Kingdom of Euchronia; entering the Tournament for the Throne; forming friendships with party members; and developing your ability to transform using various Archetype-related abilities associated with different combat positions.

Metaphor

The game includes traditional party-based orders for attacks in combination with quicker real-time actions taken when battling weak opponents, allowing you to develop a sense of rhythm and flow in your exploration through dungeons without having to conform to a strict format.

Regardless, battles will still rely heavily upon the effectiveness of your party compositions; identifying enemy weaknesses; utilizing buffs and debuffs; and strategically employing your Archetypes.

Metaphor Refantazio RPG New Details

In addition to battle strategies, the game utilizes a calendar-style system in which time is important. Players can choose how to utilize their time each day. They may decide to explore dungeons; complete quests; improve their “royal virtues”; or strengthen their relationships with other party members and/or those supporting them.

While this type of calendar-based system will likely feel somewhat familiar to fans of Persona, it allows Metaphor to create an additional layer of storytelling surrounding issues including fear, prejudice, and leadership within a fictionalized political context.

It is currently unclear if there will be any Nintendo Switch 2 specific content available exclusively for Metaphor: ReFantazio.
