We’re right on the cusp of Christmas, but despite the busy schedule, I’m doing my best not to leave any content behind. In fact, thanks to the many big announcements lately, you might have noticed even more updates than usual. With that said, here’s the weekly recap, where we take a look at what’s debuting in the coming days. Quality takes precedence over quantity this week.
First up is Stoneshard. This long-anticipated RPG roguelike, which always seems just out of reach of its final release, is ready to give us a major consolation prize with the massive Rags to Riches update. Alongside numerous quality-of-life and gameplay improvements, the update introduces the long-promised caravan system. This feature will allow you to explore the world, hire specialists to enhance its functionality, and save your progress near dungeons. I’m personally holding out for the full release, but I’ll definitely be taking a closer look at this update. The release is set for December 16 on PC via Steam.
Next, we have another title that has kept fans waiting due to multiple delays: the pirate-themed CRPG Flint: Treasure of the Oblivion. Originally slated for September, the game now has a firm release date of September 17, 2024. Launching on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, Flint features a story told through comic-style visuals and a grid-based combat system that incorporates dice mechanics. If you’re a fan of narrative-driven games, this might just be for you.
On the same day, we’ll also see the arrival of the much-anticipated Vanir DLC for the award-winning HOMM-like Songs of Conquest. This expansion brings new units inspired by Norse mythology, some of which can transform into bloodthirsty beasts. We’ve already reviewed it, and it’s looking great.
Maybe the recent gameplay reveals for Slay the Spire II have rekindled your love for roguelike deck builders. If so, December 18 has something for you: Argonauts Path. This visually striking game sends you on an adventure where you’ll face off against a variety of creatures as you work to defeat seven divine beings. The title will launch in Early Access on December 18.
I think that covers everything. It’s not quite as much as we’ve seen in previous weeks, but the flame of turn-based games is still burning bright. Have a great week!
