Without further hesitation, here’s a recap of all the latest releases in the world of RPGs, strategy titles, and various turn-based hybrids on PC and consoles.
This week may have been a bit lighter in terms of new launches, but I’ve still got a few interesting highlights to share. Before diving in, though, I want to point out some of the big reveals from the latest Nintendo Direct in case you missed them.
First, Fire Emblem fans can look forward to a brand-new entry that might be related to Three Houses, scheduled for release in 2026. But the real surprise for me was the announcement of a reimagined version of Dragon Quest VII, which, judging by the trailer and screenshots, looks absolutely stunning.
With that said, let’s take a look at everything new to play this week, including fresh releases, playable demos, and major updates.
Digimon Story Time Stranger Demo
- Developer: Media.Vision
- Release Date: September 11, 2025
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Xbox
- Steam Page

Kicking things off, Digimon Story Time Stranger has just dropped a demo to get players ready for its October launch. I’ll admit I’ve been overlooking this one up until now, without any clear reason why, even if it is for sure one of the most anticipated RPGs of 2025.
That said, I’m planning to dive into the demo this weekend to finally see what it’s all about. Of course, the series needs no introduction: as usual with these games, the roster is massive, over 450 Digimon to collect and train.
What really caught my attention, though, are the mechanics tied to the timeline system, where choices can alter locations and events across parallel worlds.
The demo is available now on both PC and consoles, and honestly, a Bandai title like this deserves at least a test run.
Dual Eclipse
- Developer: Curly Goblin Games
- Release Date: September 12, 2025
- Platforms: PC
- Steam Page

A Paladin, a Rogue, or a Wizard on a quest to stop a monstrous Prismatic Dragon from swallowing both the Sun and the Moon and restoring order to a cosmos in imbalance. Here’s the setup for Dual Eclipse, an RPG with integrated deckbuilding mechanics.
You’ll explore mysterious dungeons, dodge traps, uncover secret treasures, and build a deck of cards that is your equipment: every card has effects and roles in combat.
Combat has a card-fencing vibe, where timing, parries, combos, and choosing your cards matter as much as what you bring into battle.
As you progress, you loot cards, craft them, and specialize your class, whether that means shield-focused defense, bow mastery, or icy spells, so you grow not just in power, but in how you want to play. Now available on PC
The Child of Chaos Update & Tinkerers of Fate Character Pack – For The King II
- Developer: IronOak Games
- Release Date: September 11, 2025
- Platforms: PC
- Steam Page

A little while back, I covered For The King II, noting how it launched with a few hiccups but that the team had a clear roadmap of new content and fixes to bring it up to the level of the first game.
Well, this week, that major update finally dropped, giving players plenty of reasons to dive back into Fahrul.
The new Child of Chaos chapter continues the story with fresh biomes, enemies, and encounters, while also bringing back the Monk as a playable class, both free for everyone.
On top of that, the Tinkerers of Fate pack adds two inventive characters, the Fortune Teller and the Toymaker, who introduce unique tools like focus-driven orbs, tarot cards, and summonable dolls.
Alongside the new content, the update improves combat flow, adds new mercenaries, weapons, pets, and tweaks menus and online features to make adventures smoother.
If, like me, you’d set the game aside for a bit, now’s definitely the time to dust it off.
Azmar Quest – Text Based RPG
- Developer: Sevan Soukiassian
- Release Date: September 12, 2025
- Platforms: PC – Mobile
- Steam Page

I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of text-based RPGs, but there’s definitely a strong community of players always on the lookout for this kind of experience, so Azmar Quest might be just what they’re after.
A throwback fantasy RPG that leans heavily on text, choices, and strategy. You pick one of four classic classes (Warrior, Cleric, Warlock, or Archer), make decisions through dialogue that affect how the story unfolds, and engage in turn-based battles against over a hundred enemies as you progress toward level 30.
Between the richly branching dialogues, multiple endings, and build customization (skills, armor, potions), there’s substance for those who like to delve into narrative and tactical RPGs.
Outside of solo play, Azmar also has PvP (1v1 and 2v2) and online co-op dungeons, plus daily quests and extra modes (like the tougher “Story Mode+”) to keep things fresh. There’s also a free demo to test if the game is for you.
Terminus: Zombie Survivors – Last Escape
- Developer: Longplay Studios
- Release Date: September 12, 2025
- Platforms: PC
- Steam Page

Another DLC that just dropped is Last Escape, released for the survival RPG Terminus: Zombie Survivors.
Last Escape is the first major DLC taking you beyond the Terminus safe zone for one more harrowing chapter of survival.
The expansion adds new large areas, more than a dozen new survivor NPCs each with their own backstories and quests, and new gear and challenges tied to restoring a railway to board a train in order to finally escape the city.
As resources dwindle and danger mounts, you’ll have to build trust with the survivors, make tough decisions, fend off escalating threats, and fight for that dramatic final escape, this time via a moving train.
I think it’s a great chance either to jump back into Terminus or to experience it for the first time.
Heroes of the Seven Islands
- Developer: Rap2h
- Release Date: September 9, 2025
- Platforms: PC
- Steam Page

Now for something a bit lighter, though by no means shallow. Heroes of the Seven Islands, a cozy yet surprisingly deep hand-drawn RPG that feels like a love letter to 90s fairytale adventures.
You control a party of four heroes chosen to collect the seven keys held by the rulers of the seven islands of the Emerald Archipelago, each needed to stop the dread return of Furax the Indestructible.
The game combines point-and-click exploration in a non-linear open world with light but engaging turn-based combat, side quests, and metroidvania-style locked areas that reward returning once you’ve gained new skills. Definitely something quite unique, and it even comes with a demo to try out.
The Edge of Allegoria (Nintendo Switch Release)
- Developer: Button Factory Games
- Release Date: September 11, 2025
- Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch
- Steam Page

And I’ll wrap up this recap of new releases with The Edge of Allegoria. A turn-based 2D RPG built for nostalgia, wrapped in GameBoy-style visuals, crude humor, and a world that doesn’t hold back on monster battles or surprises.
The Edge of Allegoria was already available on PC, and it has now made its debut on Nintendo Switch.
Exploring dungeons, fighting monsters, and uncovering secrets across an expansive map with lots of monster types, bosses, dungeons, and weapons with skills tied to each of them, plus divine domains to unlock.
The retro look and handcrafted feel give it a charming old handheld vibe, but with modern touches, permanent weapon upgrades, varied exploration, and an enormous content volume to keep you busy whether you play on Switch, Steam Deck, or PC.
That’s it for my recap. As always, I’ve got the feeling I might have forgotten something—or rather, I always feel that way, but today it’s stronger than usual. Either way, you can let me know if I left anything out.
Have a great weekend, Ciao
