A decade-long passion project is finally approaching the finish line. Independent developer Regalcraft Games has announced that ONE FENIX DOWN will launch for PC on September 28, 2026. A playable demo is already available for those interested in trying its traditional combat system before release.

One Fenix Down RPG

Inspired by the Japanese RPGs of the 16-bit era, ONE FENIX DOWN combines pixel-art environments and turn-based battles with several modern conveniences. The full adventure is expected to last more than 40 hours, with three difficulty settings intended to make the game accessible to newcomers while still providing a greater challenge for experienced RPG players.

Combat centers on party composition, elemental interactions, and finding useful combinations between different characters.

The playable roster includes more than 14 party members, although the entire group will not remain together throughout the journey. Characters regularly enter and leave the active lineup as the story progresses, requiring players to adjust their strategies rather than relying on a single permanent formation.

Each party member has access to a distinct selection of abilities, ranging from elemental magic and martial arts to traps and skills learned from monsters.

Characters can also unleash personal Excedo Skills after filling their corresponding meter, adding another resource to consider during longer or more demanding encounters. Hundreds of weapons, armor pieces, and other items will be scattered throughout the world, including equipment tied to exploration and optional discoveries.

The story takes place in the Kingdom of Torloria, seven years after it survived an invasion by the bestial Goa Empire. Although the kingdom managed to hold back the attackers, the conflict continues to shape daily life. Many young citizens have been sent to the front, while those left behind work in mines extracting a rare material sought by a powerful religious order.

Players follow a young miner burdened by the reputation of his father, the celebrated Hero of Torloria.

Considered a war-dodger by his militant family, he is drawn into a much larger conflict when monsters suddenly return to the mines and an ancient presence grants him mysterious powers. A cryptic instruction to “protect Fate” sends him beyond his familiar surroundings, where he becomes involved in political struggles, hidden histories, betrayals, and a conspiracy capable of changing the entire world.

Regalcraft Games describes the project as a character-driven RPG in which relationships, competing ambitions, and changing alliances play a central role. Its presentation also leans heavily into its SNES-era influences, pairing hand-drawn character animation and pixel-art battle sprites with a retro-inspired soundtrack featuring guest vocalist Emi Evans.

Combat System

The project previously found support through a Kickstarter campaign launched in 2024, reaching its funding goal within three days. Ahead of release, ONE FENIX DOWN will also participate in Steam’s Party-Based RPG Fest, scheduled to run from September 14 through September 21, giving players another opportunity to discover and play the demo shortly before launch.

ONE FENIX DOWN launches on Steam on September 28, 2026. No console versions have been announced at this time. Below is the gameplay trailer.
