I’ve picked out 25 RPGs and strategy games this week that are currently available at deep discounts. Some of these deals will run through most of the month, while others will only last a few more days.
It’s not a big sale week for Steam, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at the number of RPGs and strategy games you can get discounted right now. Lots of publishers, both indies and big names, have deals on the table; in particular, Atlus and Square Enix have some of their biggest recent hits at some very attractive prices. Some of these deals are down to their final hours, though, so be sure to act fast if you want to save!
Persona 5 Royal
- Developer: Atlus
- Release Date: 21 October, 2022
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Persona 5 on Steam Page

Persona 5 Royal is the legendary JRPG series at its most bombastic, blending ordinary high school life with over-the-top adventure. The Phantom Thieves are among the series’ most memorable casts, and Royal is the definitive way to experience this must-play modern classic.
If you haven’t yet had the chance to play Persona 5, now is a great time to dive in as it’s discounted 70% on Steam until 24 August. That brings the price from $59.99 down to $17.99, and you can get it bundled with other Atlus greats like Metaphor: ReFantazio (more on that in a bit) if you want as well!
Hand of Fate 2
- Developer: Defiant Development
- Release Date: 7 November, 2017
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Hand Of Fate 2 Steam Page

Hand of Fate is part ARPG, part tabletop adventure, and part deckbuilder. Guided by the mysterious Dealer, you’ll see your destiny built from a deck of cards before you… then find yourself thrown into battle as dictated by the board. Each run unlocks new possibilities, so a new quest awaits you every time.
Steam has a weeklong deal for Hand of Fate 2 until 17 August, discounting it 50% from $29.99 to $14.99. The DLC are all heavily discounted as well, and you can get them bundled with the base game for a total of $17.97. The original Hand of Fate game, set 100 years before the sequel, is 75% off at $4.99.
Raiders! Forsaken Earth
- Developer: Creative Storm Entertainment
- Release Date: 10 November, 2020
- Platform: Windows
- Raiders on Steam Page

Raiders is a post-apocalyptic sandbox that doesn’t care about heroics. As the leader of a cutthroat gang, your job is to loot and scavenge the resources you need to survive, and take out anyone who gets in your way. If you’re looking to cause some mischief and mayhem, Raiders doesn’t just encourage you to be ruthless – the game demands it.
You can get Raiders! Forsaken Earth at a 70% discount on Steam until 17 August, taking the price from $19.99 to $5.99. It’s also available in several bundles, letting you save even more as you build out your collection.
Shin Megami Tensei V
- Developer: Atlus
- Release Date: 13 June, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Shin Megami Tensei V Steam Page

Atlus has been at the top of its game over the last several years, both with new properties and its tried-and-true franchises. Shin Megami Tensei V is a perfect example of this, offering the most intense and engrossing depiction yet of the series’ never-ending war between gods and demons.
Darker and deeper than Persona, Shin Megami Tensei is a great next step for players looking to go further into the Atlus catalog. You can try the demo for free on Steam, and if you get the full game before 24 August you can save 70%, scoring it for $17.99 rather than the standard $59.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes extra summonable demons and some extra resources, is also 70% off, down to $20.99 from $69.99.
Greedfall: The Dying World
- Developer: Spiders
- Release Date: 10 March, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
- Greedfall Steam Page

2019’s GreedFall had a lot to love, from its sweeping vistas and strange vistas to its open-ended RPG adventure, and there’s more where that came from in the prequel that launched earlier this year. The Dying World expands the setting even further, with a new cast of companions and more challenges to overcome.
GreedFall: The Dying World is discounted 40% on Steam until 17 August, which is pretty good for a game that just launched in March! It normally sells for $49.99, so if you get it during the sale it will be just $29.99. The Deluxe Edition isn’t discounted, though, so if you’re hoping to get the artbook, soundtrack, or Peren’s Black Mass quest, you’ll have to add them separately.
Jagged Alliance 3
- Developer: Haemimont Games
- Release Date: 14 July, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
- Jagged Alliance 3 Steam Page

If you’re in the mood for a tactical experience, Jagged Alliance 3 puts you in command of an elite mercenary squad in a country torn apart by a coup. It has XCOM-style combat and management, so getting to know each squad member’s traits and specializations will be key to victory, and it’s a bit more grounded if you’re looking to fight human soldiers rather than aliens.
You can get Jagged Alliance 3 for $13.49 on Steam until 14 August, saving 70% off the usual price of $44.99. If you like to collect soundtracks, you can get JA3‘s thrown in with a bundle for just $1.44 more during the sale period.
Persona 5 Tactica
- Developer: Atlus
- Release Date: 16 November, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Persona 5 Tactical Steam Page

Spinoffs of beloved RPGs don’t always hit the mark, but leave it to Atlus to give Persona 5 an all-new grid-based adventure and have it turn out to be a blast. Sporting Persona 5‘s iconic style giving the Phantom Thieves a chibi look, Tactica pits you against a new enemy in a stranger world, making it a perfect follow-up to the main game!
Like many of Atlus’ recent hits, Tactica is on sale this month; until 24 August, you can get it for $17.99, saving 70% off its usual price tag of $59.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes all the DLC, is 75% off at $19.99 – an even better deal!
Deck of Haunts
- Developer: Mantis
- Release Date: 7 May, 2025
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Deck of Haunts Steam Page

If Dungeon Keeper added some card game elements, it might look a bit like Deck of Haunts. In this clever dungeon-builder, you’ll construct a haunted house, using your deck to lure unsuspecting victims to their doom. The more you frighten your victims before their demise, the more essence you can harvest from them, making you more powerful for the next night – which you’ll need as paranormal experts start to turn up bent on stopping you.
If this game has been haunting your Wishlist for a while, now is a great time to finally go for it. Deck of Haunts is discounted 55% on Steam until 23 August, taking the price from $19.99 to $8.99. It’s also available in a few different bundles, including one with the excellent deckbuilder Monster Train.
The Dragoness: Command of the Flame

- The Dragoness Steam Page

For games that won’t break the bank, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better deal this week than The Dragoness. Blending Heroes of Might and Magic-style exploration and combat with roguelike replayability, it’s a great pick for fans of the classics, especially if you’re on a budget.
The Dragoness: Command of the Flame is at an incredible 90% off through Steam, but only until 13 August. As long as you get it before the timer runs out, you can add it to your library for just $1.99; after that, it shoots back up to $19.99.
Expeditions: Rome
- Developer: Logic Artists
- Release Date: 20 January, 2022
- Platform: Windows
- Expeditions Rome Steam Page

The Expeditions series has really carved out a niche as the ultimate RPG series for history buffs, with each title immersing you in its chosen period. Rome is (for now), the most ambitious and expansive of the lot, allowing you to travel the length and breath of the empire at the head of your very own legion. From politics to combat, your actions will determine the destiny of Rome itself.
Not only is Expeditions: Rome discounted to $11.24 on Steam until 14 August (a 75% savings from its normal price of $44.99), but the entire series to date is bundled together for just $24.86, including all DLC! The only thing that isn’t there is the Early-Access version of the upcoming Expeditions game, Samurai… which is itself 34% off, at $19.79.
LOST SPHEAR
- Developer: Tokyo RPG Factory
- Release Date: 23 January, 2018
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Switch
- Lost Sphear on Steam Page

Lost Sphear is an homage to classic JRPGs, with instantly recognizable world maps, ATB combat, and fantasy themes. However, it also serves as an evolution of those beloved tropes, with more fluid battles and equipment that has effects both in and out of combat.
While Lost Spear is available on PC, right now it’s discounted 75% on the PlayStation Store. Until 13 August, you can get the PS4 version for $12.49 rather than the standard $49.99. There’s also a free demo to try if you’d like to give it a go before spending money.
Gloomhaven
- Developer: Flaming Fowl Studios, Saber Interactive
- Release Date: 20 October, 2021
- Platform: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Gloomhaven Steam Page

Gloomhaven is an absolutely massive board game that offers tons of adventure, and the digital version has everything that’s in the box, all brought to life in thematic, animated battles. You can play Gloomhaven solo, but it’s best played co-op with friends, letting your adventurers fight, seek their personal goals, and eventually retire, making way for new heroes across dozens of perilous quests.
Gloomhaven usually goes for $34.99 on Steam, but until 18 August it’s discounted to $9.79, a savings of 72%. The Gold Edition, which includes all the DLC, is 55% off at $22.65, adding even more content to this already-giant game.
SpellForce: Conquest of Eo
- Developer: Owned By Gravity
- Release Date: 3 February, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
- Spellforce Steam Page

Conquest of Eo isn’t quite an RPG, nor quite a 4X, but it masterfully combines elements of both to create an engaging, memorable experience. As an aspiring Mage, you’ll spread your influence across the hand-crafted campaign map, taking on apprentices and vying with rivals for power, carving your own path with your chosen magical discipline.
You can get the base game for $7.49 on Steam until 14 August, saving 75% off the standard price of $29.99. While you don’t need to have played the previous SpellForce games to enjoy Conquest of Eo, there’s a lot of worldbuilding there, and the whole franchise is bundled at 75% off right now too.
The DioField Chronicle
- Developer: Square Enix, LANCARSE
- Release Date: 22 September, 2022
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- The Diofield Chronicle Steam Page

Between Tactics Ogre Reborn and The Ivalice Chronicles, there’s been a resurgence of classic Square Enix tactical RPGs… but let’s not forget that there are some fantastic new titles in the genre as well, telling new stories and trying new ways to bring battles to life! The Diofield Chronicle is one such game, calling on your to make fast decisions on quickly-changing battlefields.
The Diofield Chronicle is listed at 70% off through Steam, but only for a short time more as I write this. It’s currently down to $17.99, but it will jump back up to $59.99 soon. If you miss it, the demo allows you to carry over your progress in the full game, though it could be another couple of months before it goes on sale again.
DUNGEON ENCOUNTERS
- Developer: Square Enix
- Release Date: 14 October, 2021
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Switch
- Dungeon Encounters Steam Page

Another Square Enix game that’s just barely on the cusp of its sale ending is Dungeon Encounters, possibly the ultimate dungeon-crawling experience. The game’s 99-floor dungeon is just a blank map to start; your job is to chart it through trial and error, uncovering its secrets from top to bottom!
Dungeon Encounters normally goes for $29.99, and as of this writing it’s discounted 70% to $8.99 on Steam, but that sale isn’t going to last long. According to SteamDB it’s been discounted every other month or so, though, so other opportunities will arise.
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante
- Developer: Sever, Schisma Games
- Release Date: 4 March, 2021
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Android
- The Life And Suffering of Sir Brante Steam Page

This choose-your-own-tragedy takes the titular Sir Brante from birth to death, letting you narrate his life choices in a tyrannical medieval world. Brante’s experience and skills will play a major part in his success and failure, and each death lets you start over while keeping past experience, opening new paths.
It’s a fascinating game, and until 17 August you can get it on Steam for $5.99, saving 70% off the usual price of $19.99. You can also get it bundled with The Life And Suffering of Prince Jerian, getting both together for $26.33; this is probably the best way to get the new title, which just came out last month!
Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Developer: Atlus
- Release Date: 10 October, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2
- Metaphor Refantazio Steam Page

Atlus has developed a distinct style over the years, and Metaphor is a great chance to see that style applied to more traditional fantasy JRPGs. I say “more” traditional, of course, but this is still the people behind Persona and SMT, so between the swords, skeletons, and dragons you can still expect to see plenty of frightening monsters that defy description, strange characters, and stylish presentation.
Metaphor: Refantazio is a modern classic in the making, so if you haven’t tried it yet now is a great time to do so. Steam has it listed at 60% off until 24 August, taking it from $69.99 to $27.99. As we mentioned above, you can get it bundled with Persona 5 Royal, and it’s also available in a pack with Clair Obscur.
The Captain
- Developer: Sysiac Games
- Release Date: 3 December, 2021
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux, Switch
- The Captain Steam Page

Imagine a point-and-click adventure with elements of FTL and a tongue-in-cheek take on classic sci-fi, all wrapped up in a lovely pixelated package. That’s The Captain, an RPG that has you racing back across the galaxy to save the Earth, making important decisions that could impact entire civilizations along the way.
Steam has The Captain discounted 50% from $19.99 to $9.99, but not for much longer. If you miss it, don’t worry – it goes on sale pretty regularly, though honestly the full price isn’t too bad either.
Dust Raiders
- Developer: Vixa Games
- Release Date: 17 July, 2025
- Platform: Windows
- Dust Raiders Steam Page

If you’re looking for a post-apocalyptic game with tons of vehicle combat, Dust Raiders is a fine choice. Like Raiders! Forsaken Earth, it puts you in charge of a band of survivors, traversing the wasteland and trying to survive. Combat, though, consists of fast-paced vehicle duels that, despite being turn-based, capture the feeling of careening across the wasteland guns blazing.
You can get Dust Raiders on Steam for $7.99 until 15 August, saving 50% off the standard price of $15.99. It’s also available bundled with Infection Free Zone, and ambitious Early-Access zombie base builder that uses real-world maps as templates.
Wardrum
- Developer: Mopeful Games
- Release Date: 7 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Wardrum Steam Page

Wardrum adds an extra layer to the familiar tactical roguelike loop; since your troops’ power is derived from mystical drumbeats, you’ll need to make rhythm-game-style inputs to unleash their full potential! The game’s Conan-esque, swords-and-sorcery aesthetic adds a lot of flavor, and it’s clear that this is a labor of love.
Wardrum is still fairly recent, having only launched in May, so a 30% discount is welcome. The list price of $19.99 isn’t too bad to begin with, but if you buy the game before 13 August, you can get it for just $13.99. It’s also available bundled with The Last Spell, another musical favorite of ours.
Dungeons of Aether
- Developer: Aether Studios, ampersandbear
- Release Date: 28 February, 2023
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Switch, Android
- Dungeons of Aether Steam Page

Between its four unique playable heroes, engaging dice draft mechanic, and multiple game modes, Dungeons of Aether has a lot to keep you coming back even if you’re a newcomer to the Rivals of Aether universe. The pixel art, clever writing, and just overall fun vibe of the game all combine to make it a winner of a roguelite.
You can try the demo for free on Steam, and the full game is discounted 50% until 18 August. Normally $14.99, it’s down to $7.49. The other Aether games are very different, but if you like the universe, the whole franchise is bundled together at 50% off as well, totaling $33.12 for four games.

- Release Date: 3 October, 2017
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Android, iOS
- Battle Chasers Steam Page

If you remember the Battle Chasers graphic novels, then Nightwar should be an easy sell as an RPG featuring the classic heroes. That goes double since developer Airship Syndicate was founded by the series’ creator, Joe Madureira. If you aren’t familiar with the series, this is a great way to start, with randomly-generated dungeons and six unique heroes to build your party around.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar is discounted 75% on Steam until 14 August, letting you get it for $7.49 instead of the usual $29.99. The artbook and soundtrack, which usuall sell as a pair for $6.99, are also 75% off at $1.74, but there’s no bundle that lets you get them alongside the base game for an extra discount.
Urtuk: The Desolation
- Developer: David Kaleta
- Release Date: 27 February, 2021
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux
- Urtuk Steam Page

If you’re looking for a tactical challenge that’s both harder and creepier than Darkest Dungeon, Urtuk has an entire blasted, nightmarish world for you to explore. Its hand-drawn assets make the whole game feel like a living metal album cover, and if you somehow manage to survive the campaign, the procedurally generated map means there will be new dangers waiting for you to dive in again.
On top of all that, Urtuk is just $1.81 on Steam until 17 August, an 87% discount off its already-reasonable price of $13.99. If you want to tack on the soundtrack, the whole package comes to $3.87.
Redemption Reapers
- Developer: Adglobe
- Release Date: 22 February, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Switch
- Redeption Reapers Steam Page

Redemption Reapers has the big battles of a Fire Emblem, but puts you in command of a small, elite force, cutting down legions of foes… and it still might not be enough to win the day. In this dark fantasy world, your small band may be all that can stop an unending invasion, and you’ll need to understand how each team member operates – both in terms of their prowess in battle and what makes them tick off the field.
You can save 60% on Redemption Reapers if you get it on Steam by 23 August. It’s listed at $9.99 until then, after which it goes back up to $24.99. There’s no DLC, either, making this game a one-stop shop.
There’s really a lot to consider this week if you’re looking to expand your game library. You’ve got practically the entire Square catalog to choose from, and on top of that, there are tons of other games I didn’t include in this article; otherwise, it would have ended up way too long. In any case, let me know what you think by reaching out on all my social channels and through the Reddit community. Wish you the best. Ciao!
