Zale and Valere return for a cinematic encore in the world of Horloge, joined by a new playable ally and a cursed carnival twist.
Sabotage Studio has announced that Throes of the Watchmaker, a free DLC for the acclaimed RPG Sea of Stars, will release on May across all platforms. This post-game adventure brings players back to the award-winning world of the Solstice Warriors for an eight-hour side quest that’s as inventive as it is visually rich.

The DLC revisits one of the base game’s most mysterious characters: the Watchmaker, creator of the fan-favorite Wheels minigame and the intricate Clockwork Castle. In Throes of the Watchmaker, Zale and Valere journey into Horloge, a miniature mechanical realm threatened by a cursed carnival. The twist? They must adapt to Horloge’s unique rules and mechanics, while exploring new abilities and combat roles.
Both protagonists shed their old fighting styles—Zale trades his sword for juggling-based attacks, while Valere performs as an acrobatic fighter. They’re also joined by a new party member, the Artificer, a mechanized sharpshooter with laser-focused firepower.
A new trailer shows off the DLC’s lush environments, creative puzzles, and cinematic moments, which Sabotage says are produced with the same narrative budget as the main game. The studio promises a fully self-contained progression system and all-new classes, skills, and combo techniques that make Throes of the Watchmaker feel like a true expansion, not just an epilogue.
Musically, the DLC is scored by Sea of Stars lead composer Eric W. Brown, with guest tracks from legendary Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda, continuing their collaboration. Following the earlier Dawn of the Equinox update—which introduced local co-op and combat refinements—Throes of the Watchmaker gives both returning players and new fans a reason to dive into New Game+ or start fresh.
Sea of Stars’ new DLC will arrive on May 20, 2025, on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/Series X|S. Below is the new DLC trailer.
