Best RPGs and Strategies of Steam Summer Sale 2024

There are only a few days left until the Steam Summer Sale ends on July 11, and as usual, I’ve procrastinated due to work, etc. Nevertheless, I hope you come across this article in time to take advantage of the discounts on some of the most impressive and relevant PC titles.

The Steam Summer Sale started on June 27, and like a neighborhood market, it offers deals that you absolutely must grab. Here are some of the best deals, in my opinion.

Persona 4 Golden combat

With the recent release of Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica, you might want to continue the trend and pick up Persona 4 Golden at a 40% discount and Persona 5 Royal at a 50% discount. For about 50€, you can add two of the best JRPGs of recent times to your library. I don’t think I need to explain what this Atlus series means to the gaming world.

Sticking with the JRPG theme, what could be better than diving into the past to explore the world of Spira with one of the best Japanese Role-Playing Games ever, Final Fantasy X/X2? These two last “true” Final Fantasy games are currently 60% off, bringing the price of this duo to 10€. It has one of the best storylines ever and remastered graphics, and this price makes it a no-brainer to open your wallet.

Divinity Original Sin 2

Moving to Western RPGs, what’s better than a bundle that’s more like a black hole? Yes, a black hole that will suck you in for hours of gameplay and maybe spit you out weeks later. I’m talking about The Source Saga, a bundle that, for just 15€, gives you the first and second installments of the Divinity: Original Sin series, arguably the best isometric RPGs ever. Then, if you want to stay in that black hole, you can take advantage of the latest from Divinity Creator, currently 20% off, Baldur’s Gate 3. You’ve probably heard of it…

For those who prefer not to get lost in the black hole and are looking for something more manageable and less time-consuming—though not less challenging—you might want to consider Darkest Dungeon. For just 3.67€, you can enter the world of this dark roguelike RPG that will enjoy watching you suffer, and you’ll strangely love it. If you can stretch your budget a bit, the Iron Crown bundle for 17.54€ gives you the first and the recent second installment, doubling the challenge.

Warhammer Chaosgate

Don’t worry; there’s something for strategy gamers, too, those who think and rethink every single move. In this case, don’t overthink purchasing Warhammer 40,000 Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. I don’t recall this top-tier strategy game ever being this cheap; a hefty 70% discount brings it down to 13.49€.

A list of turn-based games without a deck-building game is like pasta without salt. That’s why I’m highlighting Gordian Quest, which is 50% off and priced at 8€. Not bad for a roguelite that offers both a story mode and a pure roguelite mode, promising plenty of gameplay hours. Staying in the rogue-lite genre, games where you collect more defeats than winnings but constantly unlock characters and items to start a new run, there are many great choices. Rogue Lords, where you play as famous villains like Dracula, the Headless Horseman, Bloody Mary, Frankenstein, and more, for just 6.24€, or Griftlands, another card-based game with numerous plot twists depending on who you choose as friends or enemies, also for just 6.71€.

Griftlands

If 4.99€ seems like a good investment for a video game, it’s even better if that game is Star Renegades. An RPG with fantastic pixel art, probably some of the best that puts players in the shoes of the resistance fighting to save the universe from an imminent threat. A dynamic combat system and intriguing mechanics make it a must-buy.

There’s a lot more, but my real advice is to check if a game is part of a bundle because often, for a little more than the price of a single game, you get additional titles.

Let me know if you’ve already purchased anything during this Summer Sale, if you plan to, or if you have recommendations for me. You can reach me on Discord, through X (formerly Twitter), on the YouTube channel, or simply by emailing [email protected]. Ciao
