Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown Overview

Strange Scaffold will bring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown to Xbox Series and Switch on August 14.

The studio confirmed the date alongside word of a new mode for consoles. The game is already out on PC through Steam, where it launched on May 22. The console news arrives with a promise that PC will stay in step through a free update.

Remix Mode is the headline change for the console release. Strange Scaffold describes it as a tougher way to play that adds more content and more enemy variety. The mode arrives on Xbox Series and Switch on day one.

PC gets the same mode through a free patch on the same day, so every platform has feature parity at launch.

Tactical Takedown shifts the Turtles into a turn-based format for the first time in the series. Each mission focuses on one brother. You move across compact maps that change shape and threat level every turn.

You push for points, survive the new hazards, and clear the board. The approach blends tactics with the snap of a brawler in short sessions built for repeat runs. The Steam overview calls out twenty levels that grow or shrink as you play, and a structure that puts the Foot Clan in your path from the first mission.

The story lands in a darker moment for the team. Splinter and Shredder are gone. The Turtles are close to adulthood and not always on the same page. That setup gives each campaign a character focus while still tying the threads together.

The presentation sticks to a graphic novel look with diorama-style scenes and toy-like figurines that fly through attacks. The soundtrack comes from RJ Lake, whose name you may know from Unbeatable and El Paso Elsewhere.

Strange Scaffold is the team behind a steady run of oddball projects. That list includes I Am Your Beast and El Paso Elsewhere. The studio’s work is usually compact and focused.

Our writer Chochklah writes up frames Tactical Takedown as A Simple Yet Smart Strategy Game for Turtle Fans and points to the short mission structure as part of the appeal. The console release brings that same format to living room play with the added Remix challenge.

There is no PlayStation 5 plan in this wave. For now, the August 14 launch is set for Xbox Series and Switch, with the PC update arriving the same day.
