I originally wanted to keep this week’s collection somewhat short, but then it grew a lot bigger than that, and there’s a lot I left out. Beyond the usual assortment of RPGs and strategy games, this week’s sale collection includes giant robots, a haunted apartment building, and an emperor with some very questionable ideas about marriage.
So, here we go again with The Weekly RPG Wallet Killer, which collects discounted RPGs and strategy games while attempting to convince ourselves that buying something at half price counts as financial discipline.

15 Turn-Based RPGs To Get For Less
Let’s start my recommendations somewhere pleasant because that won’t last. Sea of Stars is currently 50% off and offers colorful, super-magnifico pixel art, timed attacks (where enemies are locked when they’re vulnerable), team combos (with locks encouraging you to interrupt dangerous moves), and allows for constant exploration between battles using swimming, jumping, and climbing.

If you want to experience a classic-style adventure before the rest of this list ruins your mood, this JRPG-inspired game is where you should begin.
Next up, Inscryption is currently 60% off and takes us directly into a cabin for a card game with an extremely suspicious host. While deck-building & escape room puzzles are part of what makes the experience appealing, adding psychological horror creates a more than satisfactory combination.

I would recommend learning as little as possible before playing Inscryption. Look Outside is 40% off and will make even looking out the window a bad idea. Explore a haunted apartment building, gather supplies, recruit unusual neighbors, and engage in turn-based combat which requires distance between characters. Now that cabin doesn’t seem quite so bad; both games are great for this period of the year.
If you want a change of pace from exploring haunted buildings, Phantom Brigade is 60% off and allows players to predict enemy actions prior to arranging their mechs’ response along a timeline.

Seeing your well-planned counterattack unfold is one of the appeals of this RTwP strategy game, alongside equipment customization and the expanded pilot progression offered by its recent 2.0 update, offering even more to experiment with. Sunday Gold, on the other hand, is 80% off and trades military hardware for three criminals investigating a corrupt corporation.
Point-and-click puzzles connect the turn-based battles, while stress can push your team into impulsive behavior. Only one of these two games rewards planning while allowing you to put the troublesome employee inside a giant robot.
Stepping away from earth does not improve working conditions. Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game is discounted 60% and traps competing factions aboard a generation ship that has seen better centuries. Character builds, dialogue skills, stealth & difficult tactical turn-based combat provide different ways through the problems.

I would put Colony Ship high on the list for anyone who wants decisions made about their character to impact how quests can be approached, including talking their way past fighting entirely.
For something more focused on repeated runs, Lost in Fantaland is 40% off. It combines deck building with tactical positioning on a board. Six characters, collectible artifacts & the ability to combine multiple cards into one play give you plenty of options to experiment with. Lost in Fantaland is another promising option when you want a new deck builder to fill time you had generously reserved to finish the previous one.
Things take a darker tone in the management department with My Lovely Empress, now 70% off. Manage factions, negotiate with neighboring states & enlist supernatural Yaoguai to boost prosperity in your empire; then face the possibility of sacrificing prosperity, and people, to resurrect your wife.

The Fabulous Fear Machine is also discounted 60%, providing another morally dubious detour through strategy gaming: spread urban legends, deploy agents & cultivate public fear while dealing with rivals. Neither is likely to produce a reassuring annual report.
Underground again, THYSIASTERY is 45% off and sends marked adventurers through a strange labyrinth with turn-based combat, procedural areas and permadeath.
Characters can learn skills and teach them to others, making the people you recruit part of your tactical development. Path of the Abyss, at 20% off, uses black-and-white artwork and first-person dungeon exploration. Its combat runs in real-time but is pausable, and a shared nine-slot skill panel means party preparation is crucial for success. That’s our pause-and-plan exception (alongside Phantom Brigade) for the dungeon-crawling crowd.

You’ll find more disturbing exploration in Skautfold: Knight’s End, which is 80% off. The series finale places you inside a sinister factory as an eldritch disaster threatens humanity. Battles use a timeline, and guard functions as both defense and an attacking resource (so timing and managing reserve is important). At least the end of the world provides everyone with a reasonable excuse for missing deadlines.
Disasters in personal lives are documented much more carefully in The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante, also 70% off. This text-driven RPG follows a life shaped by family, social class, religion & political turmoil.
Developing traits opens choices, and those choices have an impact on those around you. It’s the recommendation for anyone enjoying reading themselves into hard decisions and then wondering whether they should have chosen differently.

Your resistance fighters get another chance every time they die in Every Day We Fight, which is 60% off. Tactical positioning and coordinated abilities meet direct aim in this RPG that debuted in 1.0 just a few days ago. Skills & discoveries carry over to later attempts. Death becomes part of the process of learning how to defeat alien invaders. A more practical approach to regret, admittedly.
Finally, Vagrus – The Riven Realms is 50% off and may have the greatest enemy being an overly optimistic travel itinerary. Lead a caravan through a hostile fantasy wasteland, manage provisions & morale, develop companions and navigate narrative encounters alongside turn-based battles.

I’d recommend it to patient players who enjoy detailed worldbuilding & the logistical side of adventures. This offer expires October 28th, so it would be best to check it first if it has been waiting on your wishlist for some time.
That should cover several very different RPG moods, and probably several weeks you haven’t actually got free. Pick the one that makes you want to start playing tonight, then let me know what caught your attention. I’ll be back soon enough with more questionable purchasing advice. Ciao
