News

The end of September and the start of October have really kicked off with a bang. This week, there’s a ton of fresh new content to dive into, and it might just be the perfect time to justify spending a bit of cash. We’ve got the much-anticipated pirate-themed Roguelite RPG from the creators of Hard West 2, an intriguing strategy game inspired by Heroes of Might and Magic but with a sci-fi twist, plus a unique Roguelite that lets you manipulate timelines and rewind while battling massive monsters, and so much more.

On top of all that, following Steam’s Turn-Based RPG Fest, there are loads of new demos available for you to try out. It’s a jam-packed week, so let’s dive in and see what’s in store in detail.

Rogue Waters

For sure, it’s the most anticipated of the week. Rogue Waters invites you to become Captain Cutter, a pirate seeking power, vengeance, and legendary treasures in a deadly world of myth and betrayal. It blends naval combat and strategic crew management across three story-driven acts.

You’ll face ever-changing procedurally generated seas, encountering rival factions, mysterious sea creatures, and the immortal Captain Blackbone. Combat ranges from strategic ship-to-ship artillery battles to intense boarding phases, where your crew fights using unique abilities and environmental tactics. Summoning freed mythical sea creatures, like the Kraken or the Mermaid, adds another thrilling layer to these battles. Soon, you could read our review on these pages.

Vestiges: Fallen Tribes (e.A.)

Vestiges: Fallen Tribes combines the strategic depth of collectible card games with the dynamic action of an autobattler, all set in a tribal sci-fi world. Available on both PC and VR, you’ll craft a deck of 20 cards representing your chosen tribe—whether the fierce Adrariis or the mystical Illustrans—and use them to command figurines in battle.

Beyond multiplayer skirmishes, Vestiges: Fallen Tribes features solo missions and weekly challenges, gradually revealing the lore of this dystopian desert world. Battles revolve around the struggle for water, a precious resource on a planet ravaged by human exploitation.

Revelatio

I had a feeling Revelatio had potential when I tried out the demo a while back, and now, just days after its release, this dark, moody roguelite has already earned a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.

Revelatio casts you as a primal force of darkness in a world dominated by holiness, blending tile-based, turn-based combat with roguelite progression. Your mission is to corrupt and convert the divine forces that oppose you, building your own dark dominion. Battles require tactical unit placement and the careful use of abilities to overcome holy warriors and towering bosses, all while dealing with procedurally generated challenges that add unpredictability to each run.

The game’s faith system is its core twist—you corrupt enemies and even NPCs to turn them into your own followers. These corrupted units can be enhanced with “stigmata,” powerful traits that you combine strategically to create a formidable army. The rogue-lite elements come into play after each run, where you can register one unit in the Divine Hall to be used in future games, allowing you to gradually grow stronger over time.

Silence Of The Siren (E.A.)

In Silence of the Siren, you’ll command various space-faring factions vying for control of a mysterious, isolated star system. In this turn-based strategy game inspired by Heroes of Might and Magic, you’ll navigate these uncharted regions, gathering resources, upgrading bases, and uncovering relics of a lost civilization that may hold the key to the future.

You’ll lead powerful armies, train commanders with unique skills, and face diverse foes in tactical, turn-based battles. Each faction offers its own strategies and abilities, adding depth to your choices. From recruiting skilled leaders to leveraging their special abilities. Silence of the Siren combines old-school strategic depth with modern controls, ensuring intuitive play as you upgrade technology, collect artifacts, and dominate the battlefield.

Ecognomix

Combining roguelite thrills with the careful planning of a city builder in a charming, strategic package. This is EcoGnomix, an original PC Tactical Strategy where you send your gnome team on roguelite runs looking for resources needed to expand your tiny kingdom. Each expedition into the caves brings new dangers, strange creatures, and hidden biomes, but also valuable materials that help your gnomes grow stronger and your village flourish.

Above ground, build and upgrade your village by establishing production chains, constructing buildings, and unlocking new abilities. Underground, deploy gnomes with specific skills to gather resources and fend off foes. As the caves grow more unstable, you must decide how deep to go, balancing risk and reward.

Tarnished Blood

Tarnished Blood invites you into a brutal world where you’ll manipulate time and command warriors against monstrous foes in a tactical 2d setting. You’ll guide a team of up to four hunters, choosing from four unique tribes, each offering distinct abilities and playstyles.

These hunters face grotesque threats, from mutated chimeras to deceitful Celestials, as they navigate a land of perpetual danger beneath the mysterious Dome. Master the Timeline, using time manipulation to create devastating attack combos or correct costly mistakes, ensuring that your warriors endure.

As you hunt colossal, hand-drawn monstrosities, you’ll salvage resources from fallen enemies to fortify your village beneath the Protector’s watchful Tree. Craft items from bones and hides, expand your settlement, and unlock skills to survive the increasingly hostile world. Every campaign enriches your next one—unlock new items, face varied bosses, and adapt through permanent body modifications, from petrified limbs to psychological traumas.

Shards of Realm

In Shards of Realm, you’ll blend tactical battles, world exploration, and fortress management into one immersive fantasy experience. You’ll assemble a team of adventurers from four main classes and eight subclasses, each offering distinct abilities and combat styles.

In battles you’ll need to use cover, employ flanking attacks, and adapt to a destructible environment to outsmart superior foes. With a flexible skill tree and multiclass options, you can customize your characters to fit your unique strategic vision.

Beyond the battlefield, the game expands into a living world filled with factions and evolving dynamics. On the global map, you can choose to ally or wage war, gather resources, complete quests, and decide the fate of the realm through your actions. Meanwhile, fortress management is essential to your success—build facilities, assign workers, research new technologies, and craft powerful gear to equip your team.

Thyria

Thyria blends RPG exploration with dynamic turn-based combat, inviting you into a haunting journey through cursed villagers’ minds. You’ll summon Guardians—each with unique spells and abilities—to delve into these dark dreams, gathering Soul Dusts, Inks, and knowledge to cure the afflicted.

As you explore procedurally generated, 2D isometric landscapes, you’ll encounter gifts, deceptions, and fierce battles. Time management is crucial, as day and night cycles influence the behavior of the nightmarish enemies lurking around.

Combat requires careful use of each Guardian’s strengths, weaknesses, and spell combinations. With 14 Guardians like the Pyromancer and the Charlatan to unlock, you’ll create unique teams by merging Soul Jewels and customizing abilities.

The game’s emphasis on crafting charms, collecting modifiers, and strategic spell synergy keeps every fight dynamic and varied. Explore a darkly beautiful world rendered in classic, hand-drawn art, face a demonic bestiary, and uncover the secrets behind the village’s mysterious curse.

Tenebris: Terra Incognita

Let’s close with Tenebris: Terra Incognita. A challenging RPG set in a dark sci-fi universe where you command the survivors of the crashed Solaris ship. As humanity’s last hope, you must lead your team through a hostile, uncharted planet overrun with swarming insect monsters.

This game offers deep character customization, allowing you to start with five basic classes and evolve into 17 advanced specializations with unique talent trees. Experimenting with talent branches and combining them with diverse equipment lets you craft distinctive builds for each character.

Your ship, Solaris, serves as your base—a hub for recovering wounded heroes, purchasing gear, and unlocking new recruits from cryo-sleep. However, resources are limited, and survival depends on careful planning.

And you? What will you be playing this weekend? Let me know on Twitter, on our YouTube channel, or on our Discord server. I wish you all the best. Ciao
