Tic Toc Games has brought Wrestle Story back into the spotlight, confirming that development is ramping up ahead of a Kickstarter campaign planned for fall 2026.
Originally revealed in 2023, the colorful wrestling RPG remains without a release date, but the upcoming crowdfunding campaign is intended to help the studio complete the project.
Wrestle Story treats professional wrestling as the foundation of an entire RPG world. Players create an aspiring wrestler, customize their appearance and backstory, select entrance music, and begin working toward becoming the undisputed champion.
Turn-Based Matches With Timed Attacks
Matches use turn-based commands combined with action-based inputs. Timing an attack correctly can increase its effectiveness, while players must also identify enemy weaknesses and decide when to use special moves, finishers, or tag-team combinations.
The system is designed more like an action-command RPG than a traditional wrestling game, retaining strategic decision-making while giving players an active role during each move.
Wrestlers gain levels, equip gear that improves their statistics, and unlock additional ring skills. These systems should allow players to shape their combat approach around different move sets.
Build and Develop a Wrestling Faction
The protagonist will not compete alone. Players can recruit six different tag-team partners, each with their own abilities and potential role within the faction. Strengthening the bond with these wrestlers unlocks additional techniques usable both during matches and while exploring the world.
This relationship system gives party development a direct connection to combat. Choosing partners, improving bonds, and combining compatible move sets could become as important as upgrading the main wrestler, particularly when facing opponents with specific strengths or weaknesses.
Exploring the Five Territories
The adventure takes place across the Five Territories, a large wrestling-obsessed world traveled aboard a vehicle called the Pinnebago. Between matches, players will visit different locations, complete quests, meet characters, and investigate a coordinated attack on the territory champions.
According to the current premise, an unidentified group of heels has defeated each champion and thrown the territories into disorder. The player’s faction must determine who is behind the attacks, overcome their tactics, and prevent the conspiracy from damaging the sport further.
Wrestle Story Release Plans
Wrestle Story is being developed as a single-player RPG, with Steam currently listing support for Windows and macOS.
Its release date remains unannounced. Tic Toc Games plans to share regular character profiles, combat footage, and development updates before launching the Kickstarter campaign in fall 2026.
