What truly sets Saveseeker apart is its genuinely unique story. It’s a JRPG-inspired game that casts you as a young woman who must stop her own father from destroying the world, and to do it, she’ll have to recruit all the former final bosses he defeated before he went rogue.
I announced this title from Paper Sword Games way back in August 2024, and finally getting to try it is a real pleasure.
The demo that just dropped gives a taste of the first chapter, where you’ll meet two playable characters and recruit the first of many available ex-bosses.
Saveseeker is a turn-based RPG about Emmer Edette, a cheerful kid who inherits her famous father’s power to save moments in time.
With her grumpy toy-dragon sidekick Tippleton, she sets out to overwrite the world’s Save Stops and stop her dad, a once-great Hero now using his gift for the wrong reasons. You’ll travel through six distinct lands, meet the Hero’s former foes, and build a party from characters who once stood against you.
Battles are classic and readable, but the twist comes from recruiting five ex-boss allies whose strong abilities carry meaningful action costs, echoing the way bosses fight in old-school RPGs.
Outside combat, you’ll solve overworld puzzles, play optional mini-games to earn gear and uncover lore, and explore a bright pixel-art world backed by original tracks from composer Dale North.
Saveseeker is slated to launch on PC in Q4 2025, according to the Steam page. In the meantime, here are a few more details about the game and the new demo trailer.
