Wartales is expanding its criminal underworld with a free update arriving on September 7, 2026. Community Update 7 introduces a dedicated hub for illicit activities, a redesigned Prisoner system, and several changes intended to make combat and character management faster.
The update centers on The Lair, a new underworld hub that becomes accessible after a troop accumulates enough suspicion.
Players can visit it to sell stolen goods, accept criminal bounties, purchase exclusive weapons and reduce their suspicion level. The Prisoner system is also being reworked with dedicated skill trees, clearer trust progression, individual needs and hidden objectives that can influence each captive’s behavior.
Combat should move faster thanks to a new End Round option, which skips any remaining mercenary turns and can be canceled when necessary. Character management is also being streamlined through a redesigned, three-tab character sheet covering statistics, relationships, and secondary classes.
Community Update 7 will additionally introduce three armor sets, six battle maps located across Alazar, Harag, Gosenberg and Edoran, and personal quests for individual mercenaries.
An open beta began on August 5, giving players an opportunity to test the changes and provide feedback before the full release.
