The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time - Overview

The title of this article might be a little confusing, but it’s not my fault—the game’s actual title is The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time. Aside from that bit of confusion, the content of this RPG, developed by Coin Drop Games, Lucas Immanuel, Jacob Dominick, and Kyle Chuang, and produced by Glootschke Games, (recently fully funded on Kickstarter) is genuinely intriguing—at the very least, highly original.

The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time

This upcoming indie RPG sets players inside the reconstructed ending of a fictional JRPG, asking them to figure out how the original game was supposed to play out.

Using beautifully crafted 3D pixel art, old-school menus, and dramatic voiceovers, the game feels like it could have been the dramatic finale of a lost 1990s classic. But beneath the surface, it’s a deduction-based puzzle game: players have to study glitches, misremembered events, and commentary tracks to piece together how battles were supposed to work, who the characters really are, and how the story should have ended.

Along the way, players will flip through a digital manual, watch archival footage from the “original release,” and uncover secrets hidden in the fake RPG’s world design. It’s a clever meta-game that challenges you to reconstruct a game that never existed — and somehow still makes you nostalgic for it.

While the full version is planned for a 2025 release on PC and macOS, a free demo is available right now on Steam. It lets players dive into the first slice of this strange project, getting a taste of the puzzles, atmosphere, and clever storytelling. Below is an overview, screens and trailer.
