Indie dev Apocrypha is developing Echoes of Agony, a turn-based roguelite for PC. Its premise has you confronting manifestations of your inner demons while gathering loot and managing escalating danger. The full release is currently listed as coming soon.

The developer cites Path of Exile: Delirium, Quasimorph, and Darkest Dungeon as influences. Combat revolves around stamina, which determines both how much a character can do and when they act again.
A full stamina bar triggers a turn and pauses everyone’s regeneration. Characters can perform multiple actions before ending their turn, which restarts regeneration. Spending less stamina brings the next turn forward; spending more delays it. An extra attack therefore comes at the expense of acting again sooner.

Apocrypha’s browser demo also documents Momentum, Exhaustion, and Overexertion. Ending with at least 50 stamina accelerates regeneration, while finishing below 25 slows recovery and reduces damage.
Once per turn, stamina can drop below zero for an additional action, but doing so reduces damage dealt and increases damage received until the next turn. Under these rules, leaving stamina unused can be a deliberate tactical choice, not simply a wasted opportunity to attack. The demo includes a Guard action, too, converting all remaining stamina into shields, with more stamina producing a larger defensive buffer.

Across a run, accumulating Echoes causes stronger enemies to spawn, eventually leading to a boss. Separately, an adjustable Agony Tier raises rewards while reducing your damage and increasing enemy damage. It can be changed between fights.
Progression involves choosing between premade levels with different layouts and modifiers. Equipment drops can be secured for a future run by paying an extraction cost, while completing the run preserves the entire inventory. Clearing a level also lets you retain all earned Echoes. That creates a choice between paying to protect valuable equipment and risking it for the benefits of finishing the run.

Between battles, trading, enchanting, and purchasing randomized item chests support equipment development. Unwanted gear can be disenchanted into Echoes, while Mythic items can be bought and upgraded with crafting materials. More powerful enchantment affixes carry higher costs.
A downloadable demo is available on Steam, but there’s no release date or window available.
