Scourge of the Reptiles is a party-based tactical RPG developed by solo indie developer Kyoti Games. The game is set in a low fantasy prehistoric world where a meteor has struck the Earth, endowing both humans and creatures—including elves and dinosaurs—with magical abilities. This event sparks conflict and devastation across the world, pushing the hero to explore beyond their small home village.
The gameplay is highly influenced by classic tactical role-playing games from the late 20th century, offering turn-based combat with tactics elements. You’ll command a party consisting of warriors, sorcerers, and even dinosaur companions. Notably, players can control and ride dinosaurs, which play a critical role in combat against both human and reptilian enemies. In addition, the game world, called Odion, features an array of 19 dinosaur species that can be allied with or fought against.
The background story of Scourge of the Reptiles unfolds in three acts over roughly 40 hours of gameplay. As the protagonist, you venture into the wild to resist the dark forces attempting to manipulate the dinosaurs, build a rebellion, and discover the secrets behind the sudden uprising of these mighty creatures. As the hero is able to control and ride the giant beasts, they venture forth with a party to discover that the world is much bigger than they initially thought. There are those sitting on neighbouring thrones who wish to enact war, plotting to bring forth chaos and destruction.
