Dungeon crawling takes an unusual turn in Ricochet Abyss, an upcoming tactical roguelite that combines backpack management and character building with physics-based, pinball-style battles.

Developer DreamForge has confirmed that the game will launch for PC on August 14, 2026, with a free demo currently available to play.

Rather than controlling heroes through a coventional combat grid, players launch them across enclosed battlefields, carefully choosing angles and trajectories to strike enemies, collect useful objects, and trigger ricochets.

Successful rebounds can extend a character’s movement and create opportunities to reach additional targets. Enemies also have visible intentions and individual abilities, giving players more information to consider before committing to an attack.

Preparation is handled through a compact inventory system in which every available slot counts.

More than 150 items and relics can be unlocked, equipped, upgraded, or combined into different builds. Crafting equipment also provides an additional reward choice, while active skills and usable items introduce further decisions during encounters instead of limiting equipment to passive bonuses.

The Early Access release is expected to include two playable heroes with different ricochet mechanics, abilities, and talent trees, alongside five enemy factions and their respective bosses.

Players will also have access to a complete progression system and an Endless Mode that continually increases the difficulty as the party descends further into the Abyss. DreamForge estimates that the initial version will offer at least 15 hours of content, with additional replay value coming from build experimentation and the endless challenge.

Long-term progression will be supported by the Eternal Shrine, where valuable items discovered during an expedition can be preserved and retrieved in later runs.

DreamForge currently expects the Early Access period to last approximately 12 months, during which it plans to introduce more heroes, equipment, enemies, bosses, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback.

Ahead of launch, the demo received its final major update, introducing completed artwork for environments and characters, redesigned items, interactive battlefield pickups, expanded enemy behavior, and further refinements to the central ricochet system. Ricochet Abyss will be available on PC through Steam Early Access beginning August 14.
