Honestly, I never played the first chapter in the series, but I always found it to be great from the graphical aspect, and today, Fabled Game is ready to bring players back to the high seas with Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage, a follow-up to their well-received deckbuilding roguelite. Ahead of Steam Next Fest (June 9–16), the studio dropped a brand-new gameplay trailer and confirmed a free demo is on the way.

Pirates Outlaws 2

In the demo, players will chart a course through the Pirates Bay region as Hero Gabi, who’s playable in three distinct classes. Expect a deep deckbuilding experience right out of the gate: over 150 cards, more than 50 relics, three animal companions, and 24 cosmetic unlocks are available. Each hero in Heritage offers multiple classes, each with a unique starting deck and skillset.

A major new feature is the Alchemy shop, where players can shift their strategy mid-run by using elixirs to tweak a hero’s skills and appearance. Animal companions return with a twist, too, they now add exclusive cards to your deck, opening up new tactical possibilities.

Combat sticks to the turn-based roots of the original, but introduces a new system where card plays reduce a countdown that triggers enemy actions. A new card evolution system allows players to merge duplicate cards, improving and customizing their decks along the way.

The world of Heritage unfolds on a non-linear map, letting players choose their route across islands, encounters, and shops. Collecting relics tied to outfits adds another wrinkle, completing a set unlocks bonus effects. Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage is slated for a 2025 release on Steam, iOS, and Android, with more platforms expected to follow. Before that, it’ll be featured in the INDIE3 showcase (Clemmy’s BIG Summer Showcase) on June 3.

Demo launches during Steam Next Fest, so get ready to test the waters. Below is an overview, screens and trailer.
