Atre: Dominance Wars launches Kickstarter alongside a new public playtest as Ironward seeks backers to help build out a full story campaign and additional polish for its 4X–meets–god-game strategy hybrid.

The campaign went live on October 28 with a short, replayable prologue now available through Steam Playtest.
The game puts players in the role of an Elder, an immortal sorcerer fighting for dominion and the chance to ascend to godhood. It blends 4X empire building and real-time strategy with powers that can literally reshape the map, from blessings that accelerate growth to cataclysmic spells that tear regions apart.
Armies are led by persistent Avatars who level up and equip crafted artifacts named in ancient Glagolitic script, while aerial Envoys scout, disrupt enemy plans, and eventually engage in battles themselves.

Its setting is a stitched world of four coexisting realms, held in tension by an ever-looming cataclysm called “The Merge.”
Battles emphasize composition and pre-engagement prep. Avatars can be imbued with buffs, or even hostile effects, shaping tempo once lines meet. Encounters support “multi battles” with two active sides while others reroute around the occupied region, and unit classes create hard counters: melee screens, first-strike ranged, assassin openers that punish unprepared foes, and burrowers that pierce backlines.

The magic layer runs in parallel: Elders can co-cast with others to accelerate big spells, or trigger a mana-draining deny chain to shut opponents down.
Late-tier examples include map-warping tools like Destroy Region alongside summoning and mass-reanimation options that can flip campaigns in a few days instead of weeks.
Each campaign seeds procedural regions and event chains that respond to your chosen magical affinities, pushing a light “detective” layer into diplomacy and narrative choices as you uncover rival schemes and hidden lore. The design aims for varied runs through systems-driven world generation rather than a single scripted path.
Beyond the campaign, Ironward is pitching large-scale skirmishes (with options for solo, co-op, or PvP), online features, and a map editor.

Kickstarter funds are earmarked primarily for delivering a narrative campaign with multiple endings, along with physical rewards for backers.
Players can request access to the public playtest directly on Steam; Ironward says the current prologue runs about 20–30 minutes and will rotate alongside campaign updates during the crowdfunding push. If you want a taste of the pacing and battle flow before pledging, the playtest is the intended on-ramp.
Atre: Dominance Wars reads like a bridge between HoMM-style army command and modern 4X/RTS hybrids. The game is planned for a PC release via Steam in 2026. Below is the gameplay reveal trailer.
