Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord

A few hours ago, the sequel to an intriguing 2022 title called Stones Keeper was announced. Back then, it was also accompanied by a free prologue called King Aurelius, which served as an introduction to the game’s strategic management elements and its tactical combat system. Just recently, the developer SK Team and publisher Valkyrie Initiative officially revealed Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord. This follow-up looks like it’s bringing back the familiar art style and core mechanics of its predecessor, aiming to build on what made the original stand out.

For fans of turn-based tactical games, Stones Keeper offered an engaging blend of kingdom management and tactical, grid-based combat—something akin to the depth of Heroes of Might & Magic, but with a modern flair. Chaos Lord appears set to continue in this tradition, offering the same mix of thoughtful resource management and challenging tactical battles.

Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord

In Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord, you take charge of the Circle of Unquenchable Thirst, guiding a squad through tactical turn-based battles in a fantasy world full of intrigue. As the leader, you’ll manage your very own flying fortress—recruiting and leveling up warriors, gathering artifacts, and developing your stronghold’s systems to prepare for the challenges ahead.

The storyline unfolds as Archbishop Marius makes a dangerous pact with the Elder Undead Lords, seeking to claim an artifact of immense power. Your choices will decide whether diplomacy, sheer force, or cunning magic shapes the fate of the kingdom.

With over 30 missions and a campaign focused on the undead armies and their enigmatic Chaos Lord, you’ll face unique tactical challenges, including the new “Zone of Control” and “Backstab” mechanics. The game introduces the Forest Spirits as a new faction and features nine distinct races with over 50 unit types to command.

Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord promises strategic depth, a rich RPG progression system, and an overhauled combat experience. Set as “coming soon” on PC via Steam. Below is an overview, screens, and trailer.

About This Game

In Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord, you’ll immerse yourself in a fantasy world as a leader of a squad of the Circle of Unquenchable Thirst. Along with recruiting, leveling, arming, and providing for your army, you’ll be in charge of your very own flying fortress. Growing it and improving its system will prove invaluable to challenges ahead.

Story
After the tragic death of King Aurelius, Archbishop Marius approaches the Elder Undead Lords with the desire to strike a deal with them. Succumbing to temptation, Marius plans to obtain an artifact capable of giving the Inquisition an unlimited power. In return, he will help the lords capture the coveted Temple of Water. The Undead Lords accept the deal and so the Lord of Chaos enters the game.

You’ll be able to create a unique squad, by recruiting new warriors with a multitude of skills and weapon preferences. The tasks that will be assigned to you will require not only the strength of your warriors, but also cunning. The search for valuable artifacts, raiding cities, subduing enemy commanders, desecrating lands, and capturing altars are only a few of the challenges you will face.

Every choice opens up opportunities. Change tactics and try new powers. In “Stones Keeper II: Chaos Lord” all means are good to leave your mark on history, be it force, diplomacy, or magic! Your decisions will determine the fate of the kingdom.
