It’s undoubtedly one of the most interesting and promising RPG of 2025. We’re talking about Chains of Freedom, a tactical RPG developed by Nordcurrent and set to release soon on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
We had the chance to try the demo in advance—now available on Steam—to test its gridless combat system, exploration mechanics, story, and much more.
The game takes us to a post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe, inevitably reminiscent of Mutant Year Zero. Not only does it share a similar setting, but it also borrows some gameplay mechanics from the beloved tactical RPG.
