10 Must Play RPGs And Strategy Games With Up to 67% Discouted Tag

Let’s kick off the week the right way — that’s why I’ve put together another list of 10 outstanding RPGs and strategy games that are currently heavily discounted. Last week, I highlighted a few titles that are still on sale, but today’s selection features even bigger names you won’t want to miss.

This batch includes a mix of JRPGs, classic isometric RPGs, and a few strategy gems, so there should be something here for just about every type of turn-based player. Just a heads-up: the sale deadlines vary — some deals expire as early as May 3rd, while others run through May 10th. Either way, you don’t have a ton of time to jump on these, so let’s dive in.

The thaumaturge CRPG
In the Thaumaturge, you will summon salutors, mystical, folklore-inspired demons.

The apocalypse has hit Tokyo hard, and only you, a newly forged demigod, can decide its fate. These are the premises for one of the best ever JRPGs out there. I’m talking about Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, which brings revamped mechanics, expanded storylines, and even more demons to recruit on PC.

Navigate turn-based battles with brutal difficulty and moral choices that push you to define what salvation really looks like. Now with a 40% Off. Sticking with the JRPG theme, there are several titles from another incredible franchise currently on sale: The Legend of Heroes. Discounts range from 20% to 50% across various entries, including Trails from Zero, Trails through Daybreak, and one of the more recent releases, Trails of Cold Steel IV. It’s a great opportunity to dive into this legendary series — even I have to admit, it’s a blind spot for me since I’ve never played any of them myself.

Enough JRPGs for now — let’s shift gears to something more western, but still firmly in the RPG realm, and still top-tier. The Thaumaturge is a brand-new role-playing game where mystery and mysticism collide. Use occult powers to manipulate the world around you as you navigate a story packed with secrets, spirits, and personal struggles. It’s a dark, atmospheric RPG unlike anything else currently out there, and with a 45% discount, now’s a perfect time to jump in.

Master of Magic
Master of Magic is the remake of the 1994 strategy classic.

Next up is one of the tactical RPGs that drew the most comparisons to XCOM, largely thanks to its combat system. I’m talking about Gears Tactics, a game that surprised a lot of players at launch by breaking away from the series’ traditional style to deliver something fully strategic. As often happens with these kinds of experiments, it turned out to be a big success — thanks to its intense, fast-paced combat and mechanics that encourage you to chain soldiers’ skills together to wipe out as many Locusts as possible in a single turn.

This is actually the title on the list with the biggest discount: a massive 67% off. As I mentioned, it’s not uncommon for a long-running series to completely reinvent itself within the same universe, and Persona is another great example. Known for its social sim elements and traditional JRPG combat, Persona 5 Tactica shifts gears toward a tactical format — something closer to Final Fantasy Tactics. Here, too, the experiment seems to have paid off, bringing fan-favorite characters from Persona 5 into an alternate-reality setting alongside a few newcomers. Persona 5 Tactica is also deeply discounted, currently sitting at 60% off its regular price.

Before we move on to some of the strategy titles, I want to quickly highlight another JRPG — or rather, two in one. I’m talking about another classic masterpiece from the past, newly remastered in 2024: Baten Kaitos I & II.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak
One of the best entries in the series is Shin Megami Tensei: V Vengeance.

This version brings two cult-classic JRPGsEternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and Origins—to PC with a fresh coat of HD paint and some quality-of-life upgrades. Featuring reworked visuals, widescreen support, faster battles, and new options like auto-save and adjustable encounter rates, this remaster makes it easier than ever to experience the series’ signature card-based combat and sweeping, skybound storylines. 30% Off

And let’s wrap things up with two strategy titles — otherwise, you might say I’m always rushing through this genre. First up is Ara: History Untold, currently available at a 35% discount off its base price. It shakes up the grand strategy genre by blending familiar 4X mechanics with bold ideas like true simultaneous turns, a crafting-based economy, and a non-linear tech tree.

From humble beginnings to world-shaping empires, Ara invites players to guide their nations within a vibrant, living world. Despite its ambitious design, team reviews have been mixed, with players praising the vision but noting rough edges, but the 35% discount might just be the push you need to give it a try and form your own opinion about the game. And finally, we close with a title that, in my opinion, is absolutely worth picking up no matter what — and with the current steep discount, it’s a no-brainer!

Baten Kaitos
Part of these major discounts is the remaster of JRPG Baten Kaitos.

I’m talking about Master of Magic — and of course, I mean the 2022 remake of the beloved 1994 cult classic, blending deep 4X strategy with RPG elements as players command fantasy races and wield powerful spells to conquer twin worlds. This modern update sticks close to the original’s roots, offering different wizards and schools of magic, and lots of spells to master. While some newer players might find its systems a bit old-school, longtime fans and strategy enthusiasts have mostly embraced it, praising its dedication to preserving the spirit of the original while adding a few welcome quality-of-life updates. But heads up — the huge 60% discount is only available until May 3rd, so don’t wait too long!

As always, I’ll be waiting to hear from you on my social channels — let me know if you end up picking up any of these titles or something else entirely.
